ARLINGTON, Texas – The Angelo State University Tennis team competed in day one of the International Tennis Association Regionals on Thursday.

In Case You Missed It:

• No. 1 seed Valentina Gonzalez won both of her singles matches in two straight sets to advance to the quarterfinals.
• Daniela Rodriguez upset the No. 2 seed in the first round of singles in two straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1, to advance to round two, as she won two straight by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.
• No. 7 seed Ena Ovcina won both of her matches in singles in a hard fought three set battle to advance to the quarterfinals.
• Zoe Gubbels and Maria Delgadillo both fell in their first matches of the day but found wins in the second matches to advance to quarterfinals in the A Draw consolation bracket.
• In B Draw singles, Lucie Maitrot won her first match in three sets, with a 14-12 tiebreak before falling in match two.
• Anna Schneemann defeated both of her opponents to advance to the quarterfinals in B Draw Singles.
• No. 1 seed Gonzalez and Ovcina defeated their first opponent with ease, 8-2, before battling in a well fought second match to pull out a 9-8 (2) victory to advance to the quarterfinals in doubles.
• Maitrot and Schneemann fell in their first doubles match but pulled out a victory in their consolation doubles match, 8-5.
• Delgadillo and Gubbels found success in doubles, as they eased through match one with an 8-4 victory before battling to a 9-8 (1) victory in match two to advance to the quarterfinals.
• Andrea Ramic and Melanie Dreux fell in their first match of the day, 8-1.
