Rams Travel To Lubbock

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 1 Angelo State University baseball team heads to Lubbock, Texas, to take on Lubbock Christian University in a four-game series beginning on Friday, February 21 through Sunday, February 23. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. on Friday.

Series History:
The Rams enter the weekend with its best start in program history at 10-0 overall and in conference play. Since the start of the baseball program in 2005, the Rams have not won a series in Lubbock and look to do so this weekend. The Blue and Gold lead the all-time series, 16-12. The Chaparrals enter the weekend with a 3-7 record overall and in conference action. The last time these two teams met was in the South Central Regional Tournament with ASU eliminating the Chaps in 6-1 victory.
 
Last Time Out
Angelo State hosted Cameron University for a four-game series with the Rams sweeping the Aggies, 4-0. The Blue and Gold outscored CU 60-16. Parker Bramlett led the team going 11-of-18 from the plate and notched a .611 batting average. Bramlett led the team with 10 RBI, with a career-high of six coming in game one of the series, six extra-base hits and scored eight runs. Josh Elvir and Aaron Walters helped contribute to the Rams offense. Elvir tied the school record for home runs in a game, smashing three in game two of the doubleheader, helping the Rams to a 10-4 victory. Walters also tallied home runs between the two games on Saturday.
 
On the mound, Trent Baker was an ace on the mound in game one of the series against Cameron. Through five innings of work, Baker had a no-hitter and held the opponents to a .000 batting average against him. He struck out seven batters and faced 16. He also went three up, three down four times while on the mound. Carson Childers also earned his first win of the season on Sunday in the series finale, after reliving Josh Barnett. Childers went 2.2 innings with a no-hitter and struck out six batters.
Key Players:
Elvir leads the team with a .531 batting average and a 1.156 slugging percentage. Elvir has notched 20 runs for the Rams and five home runs. He is tied with Bramlett for doubles with five. Bramlett ranks second on the team behind Elvir with a .513 batting average. The junior infielder leads the team and conference with 17 RBI and has tallied eight extra base hits, five doubles and three triples.
 
On the hill, Baker (3-0) owns a 1.06 ERA in 17.0 innings pitched. He holds opponents to a .123 batting average and has only given up seven hits and two runs. He has struck out 25 batters.

Following the weekend, the Rams return home for a four-game series against West Texas A&M beginning on Friday, February 28. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
