AUSTIN, Texas – The Angelo State Track & Field team began competition in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays meet hosted by the University of Texas with several athletes improving their personal best records.
On the women's side:
Sara Ramos competed in the hammer throw for Angelo State, finishing in 14
th place with a throw of 177'-11", or 54.22m.
Talena Murray competed in the javelin toss for the Rambelles, finishing in 12
th place with a throw of 145'-8", or 44.41m.
Shiean Walters competed in the 400m dash for ASU, finishing with a time of 57.24 in the first round of the 400m and finishing in 35
th place. Walters had the third best time in her heat, finishing behind two Division 1 competitors from the University of Louisiana-Monroe and the University of Texas at El Paso.
Alana Holloway competed in the 400m hurdles for the Rambelles, finishing with a personal best time of 1:03.23 in the first round of the 400m hurdles and finishing in 31
st place. Fellow teammate
Karlea Duhon finished with a time of 1:06.49 in the first round and finished in 46
th place. Holloway finished with the third best time in her heat behind two Division 1 competitors from Harding University and Central Arkansas.
On the men's side:
Decio Andrade competed well for Angelo State in the hammer throw as the sophomore from Portugal finished in fourth overall and second among collegiate competitors with a throw of 225'-11", or 68.87. Andrade was one of three Division II competitors alongside teammate
Cannon Andrews.
Andrews finished in 17
th place with a distance of 189'-3", or 57.69m, in the hammer throw as one of three Division II competitors.
Nicholas Ellisor competed in the 400m dash for Angelo State, finishing in 21
st for ASU with a personal best time of 47.76 in the first round. Ellisor finished with the third best time in his heat, finishing behind two Division 1 competitors from Baylor and UTEP.
William Calvert competed for the Rams in the 400m hurdles, finishing with a personal best time of 53.80 in the first round to place 24
th. Teammate
Michael Rodriguez also competed for ASU in the 400m hurdles, finishing with a time of 56.66 in the first preliminary round and placing in 38
th.
Nathan Blackwell competed for the Rams in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 22.03 in the preliminary round and finished in 60
th place.
Devoux Deysel also competed well for the Rams in the javelin throw as he finished second amongst collegiate athletes with a personal best throw of 242'-2", or 73.82m. Fellow teammate
Gianluca Tamberi also competed in the javelin throw as he finished in 12
th place with a throw of 204'-0", or 62.18m. Deysel and Tamberi were the only Division II competitors in the javelin throw.
