SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 10
th-ranked Angelo State baseball team will travel for one of the biggest Lone Star Conference matchups of the season as the Rams take on fifth-ranked West Texas A&M in a three-game series at Wilder Park.

The Rams swept St. Edward's in three games at home last weekend, outscoring the Hilltoppers 27-8.
Trent Baker picked up his seventh win of the season while
Josh Elvir earned LSC Hitter of the Week and South Central Region Hitter of the Week after collecting three home runs in the series.

The Rams hold the series advantage against the Buffs and hold a 21-18 lead in games played in Canyon. During the 2020 season, ASU won three out of four games against the Buffs including two 11 innings walk-off wins.
SCOUTING WEST TEXAS A&M:
As the only team to match the Rams offensively this season, West Texas A&M ranks second in the conference in batting average at .332 and leads in runs scored with 268 and in hits with 306 on the year. Keone Givens leads WT with a batting average of .378 while he and
Ryan Johnson have each tallied 27 RBIs which ranks fourth in the LSC.
On the mound, WT is once again just behind the Rams with the second-best ERA in the conference at 3.94 while leading in strikeouts with 279. Todd Danzeisen holds the second-lowest ERA at 2.10 to go along with five wins in six starts and 35 strikeouts.
The Buffs currently ride a 14-game win streak heading into this weekend's series with their only conference losses coming against Cameron and UT Tyler.
NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week
Elvir led the Rams to a series sweep over St. Edward's with an impressive offensive showing. The senior hit .636 with seven hits, three of which were home runs, seven RBI, and six runs scored in the three-game set. Elvir also reached base at a .692 clip thanks to a pair of walks and slugged 1.545 over the weekend. Elvir is the second player to earn NCBWA regional honors after Baker earning Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season.
BY THE NUMBERS:
The Rams have four hitters ranked in the top six in batting average for the LSC with Elvir in first at .448 followed by
Jordan Williams in third (.393),
Parker Bramlett in fourth (.392), and
Aaron Walters in sixth (.382). Elvir, Walters, and Bramlett also rank first, third, and fourth respectively in on-base percentage.
Benjamin Elder leads the LSC with the lowest ERA at 1.62 while Baker is third at 2.12. Baker also ranks third in opponent batting average (.206) fourth in strikeouts (55) and is tied for first in wins with seven.
