LUBBOCK, Texas – The Angelo State track and field teams finished up competition at the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech, accumulating multiple top-five performances at the Sports Performance Center.
On the first day of competition,
Sara Ramos led all Division II competitors in the women's weight throw, tossing a distance of 17.20m (56'-6.5") to finish sixth overall and earn an NCAA DII provisional mark.
Maricia Spence hit a provisional mark for the second straight competition, this time in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.70m (18'-8.5"). She also led all DII competitors in her section.
In section B of the women's pole vault,
Camryn Barros hit the top height at 3.65m (11'-11.75"), while
Coryn Peters came in fourth at 3.20m (10'-6").
Zykia McDaniel finished second on the track in section B of the women's 400m race, running a time of 1:00.65.
Pacer Hill and Canon Andrews both finished fourth in the events, competing in the men's pole vault and men's weight throw respectively. Hill cleared a height of 4.30m (14'-1.25") while Andrews threw a distance of 17.13m (56'-2.5"), both narrowly missing a provisional mark.
Emmett Seals finished with the top time in section B of the men's 200m race, crossing the finish line with a time of 21.85.
Antonija Radic led the Belles on Saturday, earning a provisional mark in the women's triple jump with a distance of 11.84m (38'-10.25") to earn eighth overall in the event.
Jacquelyn Crenwelge earned a top-10 finish in the women's mile with a time of 5:36.29 while the 4x400-meter relay team of McDaniel, Spence,
Genevie Rivera, and
Alana Holloway took 12
th with a time of 3:58.66, earning the top DII time.
In the men's shot put,
Ryan Pickett (14.46m | 47'-5.25") and
Cole Paxton (14.12m | 46'-4") both finished in the top eight, taking seventh and eighth respectively while
Axcel Santana took eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.10m (46'-3.25").
The Rams and Belles continue the indoor season next week as they return to Pittsburg, Kan., for the Rumble in the Jungle hosted by Pittsburg State on Friday, Jan. 21.
