RICHARDSON, Texas – After completing an undefeated regular season and claiming the 2022 Lone Star Conference Championship, the Rams were well-represented in the LSC postseason awards, landing 21 on the All-Conference teams.
Head Coach
Jeff Girsch was named the conference Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons. He led the Rams to their first outright conference title since 1984 and the first undefeated regular season in the Division II era.
Nate Omayebu III earned Offensive Back of the Year for the second consecutive season, finishing the year with 1,065 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Jacob Long is the second straight Ram player to earn the Offensive Lineman of the Year honor, helping ASU to the highest-rated offense in the conference with 427.6 yards per game.
On the defensive side, Western Bauer was selected as the Defensive Lineman of the Year, while
Andrew Pitts was named the Defensive Back of the Year. Bauer finished with 39 total tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Pitts led the LSC in interceptions with six while adding two defensive touchdowns.
The Rams tallied 13 First-Team All-Conference honors, with six on the offensive side and seven on defense. Omayebu,
Daron Allman, and
Cason Brown earned their second straight appearance on the First-Team. Under the tutelage of linebacker coach
Tyler O'Bryan, the Rams swept all three first-team honors at the linebacker position in Allman,
Eric Rascoe, and
Micah Flowers. It is the first time ASU has swept an entire position group on the First-Team list.
ASU added five more players on the Second-Team, and three earned Honorable Mention.
Brown and
Kason Philips were also named to the 2022 LSC All-Academic team to go along with their First-Team accolade.
