ASU Set for Weekend Series Against St. Mary's

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The 17th-ranked Angelo State baseball team continues Lone Star Conference action on the road this weekend as the Rams travel to St. Mary's for a four-game series beginning Saturday, Feb. 26.

LAST WEEK:
The Rams picked up a series win over Oklahoma Christian this past weekend, winning three of the four games. Austin Beck led the Rams at the plate with a .667 batting average while collecting eight RBIs total. Jake Rogers collected his fourth win of the season as the Rams have now won the last two consecutive series in LSC play.

The Rams have dominated the series against the Rattlers to this point, winning 23 of the 31 games including the last 11 straight matchups. The Rams defeated StMU in the LSC tournament last year, winning 16-3 the last time these two teams faced each other.
 
SCOUTING ST. MARY'S:
The Rattlers enter the weekend with a 4-6 overall record, going 2-6 in Lone Star play. StMU has lost both LSC series so far this season, falling to Oklahoma Christian, 3-1, and to Lubbock Christian, 3-1. The Rattlers have two big wins on the season, defeating No. 3 Central Missouri 9-5 and No. 19 Arkansas Tech 4-2 while competing at the Houston Winter Invitational.
 
As a team, St. Mary's is hitting .267 at the plate, ranking 12th in the conference in hits with 82 on the season. The Rattlers rank ninth in the LSC with a team ERA of 7.49, allowing an opponent batting average of .325.
 
Ryan McGowen leads StMU with a .344 batting average, starting in nine games this season. Jacob Elizondo is hitting .286 with a team-high of 12 hits and 11 RBIs. On the mound, Josh Buske holds a 1-0 record with a 3.97 ERA through 11.1 innings of work. He has allowed 11 hits and five earned runs while striking out 11 batters.

-The Rams rank second in the LSC in batting average with a .321 clip so far this season.
