Rams Travel to Austin for LSC Series Against the Hilltoppers

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 15th-ranked Angelo State baseball team is away this weekend as the Rams travel to Austin for a four-game Lone Star Conference series against St. Edward's beginning Friday, April 1.
 
LAST WEEK:
The Rams split their most recent series at home against Texas A&M – Kingsville, sweeping the doubleheader while falling in games one and four. Jake Rogers picked up his seventh win of the season as he threw a complete seven-inning game, allowing only six hits and three runs.

Meeting only a few times before St. Edward's joined the LSC, the Rams hold a 10-5 advantage in the series against the Hilltoppers, winning the last five consecutive games. SEU earned two wins during the 2020 series, splitting with the Rams at home.
 
SCOUTING ST. EDWARD'S
The Hilltopers enter the weekend with a 20-12 overall record, picking up series wins over Eastern New Mexico, UT Permian Basin, UAFS, and Oklahoma Christian. In their most recent action, SEU dropped three games to St Mary's while splitting against Lubbock Christian.
 
SEU ranks sixth in the LSC both on the mound and at the plate, holding a team ERA of 5.58 and a team batting average of .298. The Hilltoppers have scored the fourth most runs this season in the conference with 232 and are tied for second in home runs with 29. They are also the most walked team in the LSC with 166 walks. SEU is second in the Lone Star in strikeouts with 263 and is holding opponents to the fourth-lowest batting average at .272.
 
Stacy Bailey leads SEU at the plate with a .372 batting average, tallying a team-high 37 RBIs and 10 home runs at this point in the season. Cullen Ainsworth has 31 RBIs, hitting .313 while Jake Hahn holds a .351 average with a high of 39 hits. Wesley Gafford holds the most wins on the mound with a 5-3 record, collecting 55 strikeouts.
