SAN ANGELO, Texas – The fifth-ranked Angelo State baseball team will face a familiar foe in the 2022 South Central Super Regional as the Rams host No. 2-seeded Colorado Mesa in a best of three series beginning Friday at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium.
Game one is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday while game two will begin on Saturday at 3 p.m., with an if necessary game to follow.

The Rams advanced to the Super Regional after finishing as the top team in last week's tournament, defeating MSU Denver before picking up two wins over Texas A&M – Kingsville.

The Rams and Mavericks have only met in the NCAA Tournament, facing each other six total times with each team winning three games. This is the third straight tournament these teams will play with CMU winning the super regional in three games in 2019 and the Rams winning the tournament last season.
SCOUTING COLORADO MESA:
The Mavericks have one of the most prolific offenses in the country, ranking first in Division II in batting average (.372), hits (757), and slugging percentage (.643). Led by the potential player of the year, Haydn McGeary leads the country in batting average, hitting .480, while collecting the most hits with 96 and the most home runs with 31. Also, among CMU's top hitters is Caleb Farmer, who is second in DII in hits with 95, third in home runs with 27, and has scored the most runs with 93 on the year.
On the mound, CMU holds a 6.01 team ERA which finished second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Kannon Handy leads the Mavericks with a 4.19 ERA through 81.2 innings, earning an overall record of 9-1. He leads the team with 93 strikeouts. Behind him, Ryan Day holds a 5.18 ERA with a 6-1 record while Gage Edwards is one of the top relievers with three saves and a 3.79 ERA through 40.1 innings.
