SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams are set to compete in the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships, taking place in Kingsville, Texas from Thursday, May 5 to Saturday, May 7.
The 11
th-ranked Rams and 12
th-ranked Belles have combined for 40 top-five marks in the conference while holding the top performance in seven events.
For the Belles,
Maricia Spence leads the LSC in both the 100-meter hurdles, earning a time of 14.07, and the long jump with a distance of 6.16m (20'-2.5"). She is also first in the heptathlon with a point total of 5,371.
Sara Ramos holds the top mark in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.50m (191'-11") followed by
Jennifer Batu in third at 57.01m (187'-0"). In the shot put, Mia van Oudsthoorn takes the second-longest throw into the meet at 14.31m (46'-11.5").
Abby Zamzow ranks second in the LSC in both the heptathlon (4,889 points) and the long jump (6.12m |20'-1") and is third in the triple jump at 12.30m (40'-4.25").
Antonija Radic was the point leader after the indoor championships and will enter the outdoor meet with three top-five marks in the LSC. She ranks second in the high jump (1.69m | 5'-6.5") and the triple jump (12.74m | 41'-9.75") and is fourth in the lone jump (5.95m | 19'-6.25").
The Belles' relay teams will look to medal as well, holding the second-fastest time in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:41.73 while ranking third in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 46.56.
For the Rams,
Viktor Ertelt and
Luis Alvarado rank first and second in the javelin with throws of 67.42m (221'-2") and 66.21m (217'-3") respectively.
Elvis Kryukov holds the highest point total in the decathlon with 7,529 points followed by
Kyle Lumpkins in third with 6,895 points.
Cannon Andrews leads the LSC in the hammer throw, hitting a mark of 61.69m (202'-5") while
Cason Brown is second in the discus (55.69m | 182'-8") and
Cole Paxton is second in the shot put (16.74m | 54'-11.25").
In the triple jump,
Joshua Body ranks second in the LSC with a jump of 15.27m (50'-1.25") while
Axcel Santana is third with a mark of 14.93m (48'-11.75").
Jacobee Jones is also second in the conference, clearing a height of 5.00m (16'-4.75") in the pole vault.
Like the Belles, the men's relay teams also rank second and third with the 4x400-meter relay team holding a time of 3:13.02 while the 4x100-meter relay team comes in with a time of 40.75.
