RICHARDSON, Texas – A season after advancing to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals, the Angelo State football team was selected as the Lone Star Conference favorite in the 2022 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Rams collected 15 first-place votes while totaling 257 points in the poll, followed by Midwestern State in second and Central Washington in third.

Nathaniel Omayebu III also received some early season praise after being selected as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. In 2021, Omayebu earned LSC Running Back of the Year after leading with the conference with 1,085 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the year.
The Rams kick off the 2022 season at home against Chadron State on Thursday, Sept. 1 with kick off set for 7 p.m.
