LAREDO, Texas – After the conclusion of two rounds of action at the Laredo Country Club, the Angelo State women's golf team shot a second day 316 to climb one spot and finish fourth at the Jack Brown Memorial Tuesday afternoon in Laredo.
The Rambelles finished fourth among the six Lone Star Conference teams, besting UT Tyler and Texas A&M-Kingsville, finishing behind West Texas A&M, Texas A&M International, and St. Mary's.
ROUND 1
- The Rambelles sat fifth at the end of day one after posting a combined plus-33, 321, trailing leaders West Texas A&M by only nine strokes.
- Both Biola and Texas A&M-Kingsville ended the day 14 strokes behind the Rambelles, with UT Tyler sitting just ahead of the Rambelles with a first round 319.
- Patrizia Schaefer registered the best first round on the squad, carding a plus-4, 76, leaving her in fifth heading into round two.
ROUND 2
- The Rambelles improved their position on day two after shooting a plus-28, 316. The Rambelles outperformed two LSC schools, overtaking UT Tyler on the second day and finishing better than Texas A&M-Kingsville (8th).
- Schaefer stayed consistent and carded another plus-4, 76 in the second round, earning her a tie for fourth.
- Maria Sierra Sanz made a six stoke improvement on day two, also recording a plus-4, 76 to climb eight spots and finish tied for 14th.
- West Texas A&M would finish plus-38 to finish first of the 11 team field. Texas A&M International (plus-44) and St. Mary's (plus-55) rounded out the top three.
- The Rambelles finished with the fourth most pars (84) and birdies (15).
