SAN ANGELO - Coming off a pair of sweeps to open LSC play, the Angelo State volleyball team continues their LSC schedule on Wednesday when they welcome Texas Woman's into the Junell Center - Stephens Arena for a matchup of two sqauds who are undefeared in LSC play.
Madi Parrish and
Hannah Kinnison led the Rambelles' attack in their win over UTPB on Saturday with 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage;
Laney Dale had three aces and 19 assists, and
Caleigh Enax led all players with eight digs.

The Belles lead the conference in assists (708), hitting percentage (.261) and kills (738). They rank second nationally in assists, third in assists per set (13.79), fourth in kills, and tenth in kills per set (14.40).
DALE NAMED LSC SETTER OF THE WEEK
Laney Dale was named the LSC Setter of the Week for averaging a double-double at the LSC Crossover last weekend; Dale snapped over a year-long drought for the Belles receiving a weekly conference honor, with the last time coming at the end of the 2021 season.
BELLES IN THE POLLS
- The Belles are receiving 33 votes in the AVCA Top 25, the second-highest placed LSC team in the AVCA poll and just four positions out of the top 25.
- The Belles ended the 2022 season as the eighth-ranked team in the LSC standings, qualifying for the LSC Tournament. The Belles have qualified for the tournament every season under Waddington.
- The Belles were picked fifth in the LSC Preseason Poll behind West Texas A&M, UT Tyler, DBU, and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
- They are one of two LSC teams to appear in the poll, behind third-ranked West Texas A&M.
- The Belles started the 2022 season ranked 13th in the country before dropping to 23rd the following week and falling out of the poll the next week, failing to rejoin at any point during the rest of the season.
- The Belles started the 2021 season ranked first in the country off the heels of the 2021 AVCA National Championship; they spent the entire 2021 season within the top 25 of the poll.

The Pioneers enter this matchup with a 10-3 overall record and a 2-0 record in conference play through the opening weekend, joining ASU, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UAFS, and DBU as teams that are undefeated in LSC competition. The Pioneers are riding a seven-match winning streak, having not lost since September 8th. The Belles are 14-6 all-time against the Pioneers, having won the last three matchups; and, the Belles are 9-0 all-time against the Pioneers inside the Junell Center - Stephens Arena.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
TWU boasts four players averaging 2.4 kills per set or more, led by Tori Woods' 2.94 kills per set. As a team, they are hitting .248, which ranks second behind ASU in the LSC. The combination of Grace Reynolds (5.76 assists per set) and Kiana Reed (4.90 assists per set) facilitates the Pioneers offense.
Defensively, the Pioneers hold opponents to a .191 hitting percentage. They are coming off a match in which they recorded their season-high in blocks (11) in a four-set win over St. Edward's. Luna Franca leads the team with 4.18 digs per set, and 6-foot-3 freshman Kady Hansen leads the charge at the net avergaing 0.94 blocks per set.
THE LAST MATCHUP
Last season, the Belles beat the Pioneers in four sets in Denton;
Elsa Lamphere had seven kills that evening while
Cate Boldrick had six and
Marina Sanchez added in five more.
Kayla Baer led all players with 28 assists, also recording a double-double with 12 digs.
Hannah Kinnison recorded a career-high 22 digs, and
Caleigh Enax had 21 digs.
Woods lead the Pioneers attack that night with nine kills while also recording 13 assists, and Kaia Saylor added in six kills. Reed added in 12 assists and seven digs off the bench. For the match, the Belles held the Pioneers to a .045 hitting percentage.
PERSONAL BESTS THIS SEASON
- Eleven Belles have recorded at least one personal best this season.
- Setter Kayla Baer had three service aces against UAFS on Sept. 16, including two in a row that gave the Belles the lead in the fifth set.
- Setter Laney Dale recorded a pair of kills against New Mexcio Highlands on Sept. 5; she has seven kills this season, exceeding her total from the 2022 season. She also set a new career high with three service aces against East Central on Sept. 9 and has five double-doubles this season.
- Outside hitter Hannah Kinnison set a career-high attacking percentage of .750 against University of the Southwest on Sept.1.
- Setter Alli Kirkpatrick assisted 26 times against East Central on Sept. 9, the most in her debut season; she also notched three service aces against Southwest on Sept. 1 and recorded eight digs against TAMUK on Sept. 14.
- Outside Elsa Lamphere hit .833 in the season opener versus Southwest, a new career-high for the senior.
- Outside hitter Madi Parrish buried 13 kills against Western New Mexico on Sept. 20. She hit .692 against Southwest, a career-high, and recorded 10 digs against St. Mary's on Sept. 15th for her first-career double-double.
- Defensive specialist Krizia Perez recorded two digs against Huston-Tillotson on Spetmeber 2nd.
- Middle Marina Sanchez had 13 kills vs. CSU Pueblo on Sept. 8, the first time she's had ten or more kills in a match in her career. She also had eight digs against the Thunderwolves, a career-high.
- Middle Hannah Spencer recorded three blocks against Henderson State on September 1st; she also recorded ten kills in her LSC debut versus WNMU; she hit .625 against UTPB on Sept. 23. She also recorded a pair of aces against St. Mary's on Sept. 15.
- Outside hitter Evelyn Torres set a new career high with 18 kills against UAFS on Sept. 16.
- Outside hitter Kamryn Williams recorded four kills each against Huston-Tillotson and Southwest; she hit .667 against the Mustangs.
RETURNING STATS
- ASU returns four starters and 12 letter winners from last year's team while adding seven newcomers, including a pair of in-conference transfers.
- Angelo State returns 79.8 percent (1052 of 1319) of its kills, 94.7 percent (107 of 113) of its service aces, 88.3 percent (1572 of 1780) of its digs, and 34.2 percent of its blocks (81.5 of 238.5) from last season's team.
