Rams Return to Winning Ways Against Muleriders

SAN ANGELO – For the second time this season, the Angelo State men's basketball team responded to a loss with a win, defeating Southern Arkansas 71-65 on Saturday afternoon inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.

The Rams controlled the game on the glass, out-rebounding the Muleriders 47-32. The 47 boards are the most they've grabbed in a single game this season.

The Rams' defense also held the Muleriders to 36.9 percent shooting from the field, the lowest mark they've held an opponent to this season.

Kendrick Delahoussaye turned in a career-high 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field; the senior point guard made seven of his eight attempts from inside the three-point line. He also grabbed a pair of rebounds and had a pair of assists.

Sterling Gaston-Chapman scored 14 points, his third straight game in double figures. He led the Rams' defense with a pair of steals.

Kaden Evans led the Rams in rebounding with seven boards, also joining his senior teammates in double figures with 12 points. He was responsible for two of the Rams' five made three-pointers.

Damonze Woods had eight points, five rebounds, and a pair of blocks, while Carvell Teasett had seven points, and Jalen Gilmore scored five points in nine minutes of play.

In his first start at Angelo State, Denim Dawson had two points, six rebounds, and a pair of blocks. Dawson also led the Rams with three assists.

The Rams improve to 3-2 on the season. They continue this homestand next weekend when they welcome Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International to town.
