SAN ANGELO, Texas – Looking to continue their seven-game winning streak, the No. 15-ranked Angelo State baseball team will head to San Antonio for a Lone Star Conference series against St. Mary's starting on Friday, Mar. 15.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
The Rams picked up four wins as they swept Oklahoma Christian over the weekend. Saturday's doubleheader saw Alezeah Gutierrez (7.0 IP, H, 3 BB, 12 SO) and Dax Dathe (6.2 IP, 2 H, R) toss gems while Tripp Clark, Jacob Guerrero, Weston Valasek, and Tayten Tredaway were responsible for 21 of the 35 runs scored on the weekend.

The Rams have had control in the series to date, holding a .780 winning percentage over the Rattlers. Last season, ASU dropped the series opener against StMU before coming back to win the next three games and capture the series.
 
SCOUTING THE RATTLERS:
The Rattlers enter the weekend with a 9-13 overall record, going 7-13 in LSC play up to this point. StMU has dropped series against UT Permian Basin, UAFS, and Lubbock Christian while splitting against UT Tyler, and capturing the series against Oklahoma Christian.
 
StMU is seventh in the conference in batting average at .294 and ranks 11^th in ERA at 9.46. Parrish Easton is the team's leading hitter with a .348 batting average and a .957 OPS. He is supported by RJ Galvan, Garrett Brooks, and Trey Guajardo, who are each swinging above .300 with Garrett leading the team with four home runs and 25 RBIs.
 
ALEZEAH EARNS PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS
In a start where he allowed no runs, one hit – a double – and three walks while striking out 12 on the way to recording his first shutout of the season, Alezeah Gutierrez was named Lone Star Conference and NCBWA Pitcher of the Week honors. The performance now puts him tied for third in the LSC in strikeouts with 38.

- Tripp Clark continues to sit atop several batting categories in the Lone Star Conference including batting average (1^st), OPS (1^st), hits (1^st), RBIs (1^st), triples (2^nd), and stolen bases (3^rd).
- In doubles, Tayten Tredaway and Jacob Guerrero sit first and second atop the statistical leaders with 14 and 12 respectively.

The Rams were selected as the favorites to take the 2024 LSC crown, earning the top spot in the preseason poll with 503 points, including 38 of the 39 first-place votes. Coming in second was UT Tyler followed by St. Edwards and Lubbock Christian.

NCBWA PRESEASON ALL - AMERICANS:
The Rams had four players selected to the NCBWA Preseason All-American Team, earning First-Team honors was outfielder Jacob Guerrero who was also selected as the 2024 Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year. Being named to the All-American Second-Team is starting pitcher Braxton Pearson, who was named Lone Star Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year, and catcher Tripp Clark. Rounding out the honors is utility man Austin Beck who was named an Honorable Mention.
