SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The 15^th-ranked Angelo State baseball team earned the series victory over St. Mary's, defeating the Rattlers 17-12 in game four on Sunday.
 
With the win, the Rams now hold a 20-9 overall record on the season and a 19-9 record in conference play.
 
The Rattlers struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a single up the middle.
 
ASU gained the lead in the second inning, scoring on a bases-loaded hit by pitch and walk before a sacrifice fly by Jacob Guerrero.
 
StMU tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single before putting up three runs in the third.
 
The Rams took control in the fourth inning after putting up eight runs in the frame. Tripp Clark brought in two runs on a single to center field while ASU added five runs on Rattler errors.
 
After a sac-fly by StMU in the bottom of the fifth, the Rams answered with four runs in the sixth, three coming off a bases-clearing double by Guerrero.
 
The Rattlers kept up the fight, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth and adding another in the seventh to make it 15-11 before play was halted due to rain. When play continued, StMU added another run on a ground out.
 
ASU extended the lead in the eighth, scoring on a single by Guerrero before adding a run in the ninth on a single by Hunter Holt.
 
The Rams will be back at home next weekend as they face Lubbock Christian in a four-game series beginning Friday, Mar. 22.
