SAN ANGELO, Texas – As opening day approaches for the Angelo State baseball team,
Caleb Heuertz and
Jacob Guerrero have been named Preseason All-Americans by D2 Baseball as announced on Friday afternoon.
Heuertz, a senior right-handed pitcher majoring in Business Management, earned first team honors as he recorded a 2-2 record with seven saves in 25 appearances last season. The San Angelo native held onto a 2.29 ERA and limited opposing batters to a .190 batting average with 69 strikeouts in 51 innings pitched on the way to his first All-American selection.
Guerrero, an Accounting major from Colleyville, was named to the second team as he swung for a .368 batting average with 11 home runs, four triples, 25 doubles and 76 RBIs. The senior outfielder led the Lone Star Conference with 30 stolen bases and was recently named LSC Preseason Player of the Year.
The Rams will open the season at home against UT Permian Basin beginning on Friday, Jan. 31 at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
