SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak with an 85-73 win over Sul Ross State on Thursday evening inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.
The Rams' defense forced the Lobos into 24 turnovers, with the Rams scoring 25 points off turnovers. The Rams also took care of the ball on offense, only committing seven turnovers, their lowest mark of the season.
The Rams recorded 15 steals and seven blocks, both single-game highs in the 2024-25 season.
Shemar Smith was one of four Rams to score double figures, leading the charge with 19 points. Smith stuffed the stat sheet with nine rebounds, six assists, a pair of blocks, and a steal.
Blessing Adesipe scored a career-high 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field, including making a three-pointer. He was perfect from the free-throw line in five attempts, grabbing three rebounds and four steals.
Kaden Evans started the game off hot, scoring the Rams' first 12 points on four made threes. He finished with 14 points, three rebounds, a pair of blocked shots, and five steals, the most in a single game this season for the Rams.
Sterling Gaston-Chapman scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds, with six coming on the offensive glass. He joined Smith, Adesipe, and Evans in recording both a steal and a block, rejecting a shot and nabbing a pair of steals.
Carvell Teasett had nine points on three made threes, and
Kendrick Delahoussaye had eight points and five assists.
The Rams improve to 12-8 on the season and 8-6 in LSC play. They close their weekend out against Western New Mexico, who are coming off a loss against UT Permian Basin.
