Delahoussaye’s Career Day Lifts Rams Past West Texas A&M

Canyon, Texas – Senior guard Kendrick Delahoussaye scored a career-high 27 points as he led the Angelo State men's basketball team to a win on Saturday afternoon over West Texas A&M inside the First United Bank Center, defeating the Buffs 62-59, as the Rams end their road trip on a high note.

The win snaps the Rams' seven-game losing streak to the Buffs, with the last victory over the Buffs coming on January 5th, 2023.

The Rams' defense stifled the Buffs, as the hosts only shot 33.9 percent from the field and 14.8 percent from three.

The Rams shot 42.9 percent from the field despite only making one of their nine three-point attempts.

Delahoussaye's 27 points came on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and was perfect from the free-throw line, going 13-for-13 from the charity stripe. Delahoussaye also grabbed six rebounds in 39 minutes on the court.

Delahoussaye's 13 free throws are the most for the Rams since Paul Williams made 16 against Texas A&M-Kingsville on December 4th, 2021.

Shemar Smith joined his senior teammate in double figures with ten points.

DJ Freeman scored seven points and led the Rams with eight rebounds. He also blocked a shot and grabbed a pair of steals.

Sterling Gaston-Chapman added six points and six rebounds, and Blessing Adesipe contributed four points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

The Rams improve to 14-9 on the season and 10-7 in LSC play. They wrap up their road trip next weekend against Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State.
