SAN ANGELO, Texas– The Angelo State track & field teams return to the outdoor season as the Rams and Rambelles travel to Abilene Christian for the Wes Kittley Invitational beginning on Friday.

ASU concluded the indoor season at the NCAA Division II national meet with the Rams taking eighth overall, led by
Josh Body who claimed the individual title in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.38m (50-5.5). The Rams also picked up points in the pole vault as
Oleg Ananev finished second overall while
Mark Burdin took fourth in the heptathlon.
Sweeping the Blue & Gold Battle:
In the only outdoor competition so far this season, the Rams and Rambelles swept the Blue & Gold Battle duel against Texas A&M – Kingsville, winning 20 events on the day combined.
Quick Notes:
-The Rambelles will send 26 athletes to Abilene this weekend while the Rams will have 29 competitors overall.
-
Marie Schuler set the program record in the women's hammer throw in her first outdoor appearance, tossing a mark of 60.01m (196-10) which currently leads Division II.
-After tying the record last season,
Kylyie Paden now holds the program record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.96m (12-11.75) during the Blue & Gold Battle.
-Early on in the outdoor season, ASU holds 21 Top 10 marks in DII currently, while leading in three events.
-Ananev has the top mark in the men's pole vault at 5.15m (16-10.75) while
Federica Dozio leads the women's javelin at 48.38m (158-9).
Friday begins with the discus at 12:30 p.m. followed by the javelin at 5 p.m. while the distance carnival will start at 6 p.m. with the 1,500m run. Saturday's events begin at noon with the pole vault while the running events will start at 2 p.m.
