Richardson, Texas – Angelo State baseball's Jacob Guerrero and Angelo State women's soccer's Katelin Heise earned the Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athletes Awards, the conference announced this morning.

Each academic year, the conference presents a Scholar-Athlete award to one male and one female student-athlete who is a member of the graduating class at each LSC member institution. Award recipients are selected by their campus and represent outstanding accomplishments in scholarship, athletics, and leadership. Honorees must have participated for at least two years in their sport.

Guerrero, an accounting major from Colleyville, had a standout season at the plate, boasting a .401 batting average and a 1.113 OPS. He recorded 89 hits, including 19 doubles, four triples, and seven home runs, while scoring 75 times and driving in 52 runs. A pillar of consistency for the Rams in left field, Guerrero had also drawn 41 walks and swiped 20 bases.

Guerrero was a two-time All-American honoree this season and was named to the LSC All-Academic and CSC Academic All-District teams.

Heise, a graduate student in the Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration program, captained the Rambelles to a 14-2-5 overall record as they claimed the LSC Regular Season and Tournament titles, making their first-ever appearance in a regional final.

Heise was named to the All-LSC First Team in the past three seasons and was a three-time all-region honoree.

Heise, named a USC Scholar All-American in December, played in 91 matches in her career, the second-most in program history, while making 88 starts, a new program record. The Rambelles won 62 matches in Heise's time at Angelo State, making her the winningest player in program history.
