Angelo State Picks Up Three NCAA Provisional Marks

The 4x400M now sits at No. 8 in NCAA Division II

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State recorded three NCAA provisional marks including a 3:52.25 in the 4x400M on the final day of the Texas Tech Open at the Athletic Training Center in Lubbock on Saturday.

The women's 4x400M ran its best time of the season and now sits at No. 8 in NCAA Division II. The relay of Chrystal Ruiz, Lexi Brooks, Theresa Sue and Jaylen Rodgers had to work for the win in its section. Lone Star Conference Rival Abilene Christian pushed the Rambelles the entire way. Rodgers took the anchor leg and was passed at the 200M mark but battled back and caught ACU to nip the Wildcats at the end in a time of 3:52.25 compared to 3:52.57.

Kelsey Coffman cleared her first bar of the season and it put her on the NCAA Division II provisional list. She cleared 11'-5.75” (3.50M) to win her first meet of the season. Coffman is now tied for No. 15 on the NCAA Division II list.

Kimberly Williams placed third in the 'B' section of the women's shot put with a throw of 41'-7.25” (12.68M). Teammate Ashlie Francis was 10th with a mark of 35'-10.50” (10.93M).
Ruiz ran a season best of 8.22 in the 55M hurdles to place seventh and pick-up another NCAA provisional mark while teammates Cathryn Rittenberry (8.45) and Jordan Gray (8.68) finished in 10th and 16th, respectively.

Freshman Lexi Brooks crossed the line in 59.72 in the 400M to place 16th. Shelly Diggs finished in 44th with her time of 1:05.37.

Jaylen Rodgers covered 1000M in a time of 3:09.19 for the eight-best time of the meet.

In the distance crew's first race of the season, Katie Williams placed 10th in the 3000M with a time of 10:59.05. Alyssa Priest ran an 11.22.22 for 16th while teammate Jessica Boudreau was right behind in 19th with a 11:32.42. In her first race as a Rambelle, Annifer Flores finished in 12:02.23 for 26th place.

Brittany Clarke jumped 35'-7.75” (10.86M) in the women's triple jump to place 13th. Clarke ran an 8.06 in the 55M hurdles and was 61st.

The Rambelles return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Texas Tech Open.
