Rams Beat Truman State 69-63

Keenen Coleman led the team with 19 points

SAN ANGELO, Texas –
Keenen Coleman scored 19 points to help lead the Angelo State men's basketball team to a 69-63 win over Truman State at the ACU Tipoff Classic held at Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas on Saturday night.
 
Truman State (0-2) started the game on a 7-0 run over the first four minutes of the game before Angelo State (1-1) found the bucket. Coleman ended the scoreless streak with one of his three buckets form behind the arch. Coleman scored 15 of his 19 game-high points in the first half.
 
The Rams held a 25-13 advantage in rebounds including 11 of those 25coming on the offensive glass. Angelo State held a 29-24 lead at half.
 
Truman State scored the first points in the second half on a layup by Patrick Burmester before the Rams went on an 11-0 run. Coleman, Joey Lennox and Javae Gilchrist-King all hit three pointers during the stretch.
 
Gilchrist-King scored 18 points with 12 of those points in the second half. Lorenzo Freeman grabbed 11 boards to help the Rams outrebound Truman State 44-30 on the night.

The Rams will play their first game at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. against Wayland Baptist. The game will be a double header with the Belles starting at 6 p.m.
