Texas Relays Results (TFRRS)
AUSTIN – Angelo State's 4x400-meter relay is getting a little faster every week. The team of
Robbie Thayer,
Terence Holland,
Brian Holik and
Isidro Garcia finished in 3:12.35 and placed third Saturday, part of three NCAA Division II provisional marks and one automatic mark hit by the No. 6 Rams at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium last week.
The time was slightly faster than the quartet's previous altitude-adjusted provisional qualifying time set last week at Texas Tech and ranks as the top time in the Lone Star Conference this season and sixth-best 4x400-meter time in Division II. It took the second-best time in NJCAA this season by Butler County (3:09.17) and the fastest time in NAIA by Oklahoma City (3:10.51) to top the Rams.
Brian Holik and
Jeffrey Jones also hit provisional marks in the 400-hurdles Thursday and
Tyler Orlando surpassed an automatic qualifying mark in the javelin Friday.
In Saturday's 4x400, Garcia ran a blistering split of 46.1 seconds, more than a second and a half faster than his team- and conference-leading 47.79 second provisional qualifying time set last weekend at the Texas Tech Invitational (4/2).
Other Rams and Rambelles also posted solid marks at the Texas Relays, including
Trevor Rogers (23-10 in the long jump),
Jacob McDonald (198-06 in the javelin) and Kati Holly (5-05 in the high jump), who all posted marks that are below their season bests but would rank among the top five in the LSC. Angelo State's 4x100-meter relay team of Kennan Henry, Rogers, Holik and
Nick Smith ran a 41.22, to fit in that same category.
Wade Goode also competed well as he threw the discus 167-04 (51m).
Angelo State will host the David Noble Multi-Event Meet Thursday and Friday this week and the David Noble Relays on Saturday at the LeGrand Sports Complex.
