SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team lost to No. 18 West Texas A&M 73-44 in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center on Saturday night.
The Rams (2-4, 0-2) struggled from the floor shooting only 27.5-percent from the floor compared to the Buffs (7-1, 1-1) 60.9-percent.
Angelo State held a 18-16 lead after a
Jovan Austin jumper at the 12:09 mark of the first half. West Texas A&M proceeded to go on a 25-10 run to end the half up 41-28.
The Rams scored the first point of the second half on a free throw but were then held scoreless over the next six minutes. The Buffs pushed their lead to 26 points during the scoreless stretch. West Texas A&M held the Rams to just 16 points in the second half.
ASU was led by
Chris Talkington's 16 points and seven rebounds.
Jovan Austin chipped in 11 points.
West Texas A&M had four score in double figures with Donald Sims leading the way with 15 points. Darnell Jackson and Nate Drayton had 13 and 12, respectively.
The Rams return to action on Friday at 7:30 as they will host Tarleton State in Stephens Arena.
