Rams Return From Break With Road Game at Cameron

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team returns to action this week with a pair of Lone Star Conference games after a 13-day break.

The Rams (3-7, 1-3 LSC) start the week with an 8 p.m. game on Wednesday at Cameron (5-5, 1-3 LSC) in Lawton, Okla. before hosting Midwestern State at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Junell Center. ASU, which is looking to snap a three-game losing streak, dropped both of its games to the Aggies last season, falling by three in Oklahoma before a four-point defeat in San Angelo.

Angelo State comes into Wednesday game against CU scoring 67.4 points per game, while opponents are scoring at a 72.6 points per average. The Rams, who have a 4.6 rebounding deficit per game, are shooting 38 percent from the floor, including 35 percent from beyond the arc (69-197). ASU is second in 3-pointers made, fourth in the conference with a 66 percentage from the free-throw line and lead the LSC with a +4.5 turnover margin.

Antonio Dye leads the Rams with 14.8 points per game and also has 22 assists and 48 rebounds in his senior season. Jovan Austin, a freshman from Grand Prairie, is adding 12.9 points per game and leads the team with 35 assists while junior Chris Talkington has scored 12.3 points per game and leads the team with 53 rebounds. Dakota Rawls, a sophomore from Bronte, has contributed 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds, while Bryan Hammond has 28 rebounds and 26 assists through the first 10 games of the season.

Cameron, which is coming off a 78-70 win over Florida Tech and an 88-76 loss to Rollins College in Las Vegas, is 3-0 at home this season and took a 66-56 win over Eastern New Mexico in its last LSC game on Dec. 12. The Aggies are scoring 67.7 points per game and are shooting 45 percent. The Aggies are shooting 31 percent on 3-pointers and have a +3.8 rebounding advantage this season.

Craig Foster leads the Aggies with 15.4 points per game and was named the LSC's Offensive Player of the Week two weeks ago. The junior guard, who played at Lawton High, has also dished out a team-leading 51 assists and is grabbing 2.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 82 percent from the line. Tim Johnson is adding 9.8 points and 32 assists, while Jonathan Patino and Rudy Harrell are scoring 6.9 points per game.

The Midwestern State game on Saturday starts a four-game home stand for the Rams who will also host Texas-Permian Basin (7 p.m., Jan. 8), Northwood University (4 p.m., Jan. 12) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (7:30p.m., Jan. 16).
