SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team faces a tough road test as it will play No. 11 Midwestern at 7 p.m. in Wichita Falls.

The first game between the two Lone Star Conference foes was a tight battle all the way until the very end. The game featured five ties and four lead changes the last coming when Midwestern took a 62-60 lead with 42 seconds left before prevailing 65-61. Midwestern was led by JaMichael Rivers 30 points while Reggie Brice scored 18 points for the Rams.

The Mustangs are 17-2 overall and 10-2 in the LSC that includes a 9-0 record at home. MSU sits at No. 2 in the LSC standings behind only No. 3 Tarleton State. The Rams are 9-12 on the season with a 2-9 LSC record. Angelo State is tied for eighth with ACU in the LSC standings.

The Mustangs average 75.7 points per game and have Michael Loyd leading them at 13.1 points per game. Midwestern holds opponents to 62.9 points per game and has forced 20.7 turnovers per game. The last time the Rams have won in Wichita Falls was a 86-76 victory during the 1987-1988 season.

Kennen Coleman still leads the Rams in scoring at 15.6 per game. Angelo State has won two of its last three games and has seen production from its younger players in Dakota Rawls and Justin Walling. Both have received a start in the last three games and Walling has scored 6.7 points in the last three.
