Slone Moves Up to No. 2 in NCAA Division II

The teams combined for six NCAA Division II provisional marks

ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State's Austin Slone sits at No. 2 in NCAA Division II after hitting a personal-best and NCAA Division II provisional mark of 50'-5.50” (15.38m) in the triple jump at the Michael Johnson Dr. Pepper Classic held in Waco, Texas on Saturday.
 
Slone made the big jump up the NCAA Division II list on his second jump of the competition. The All-American fouled on his first attempt before uncorking his personal-best jump. He is not only No. 2 in NCAA Division II but also No. 1 in the Lone Star Conference.
 
Freshman Jaylen Rodgers recorded her second personal best in the 800-meter. Her time of 2:13.31 in the evening 800-meter section is her first NCAA Division II provisional mark of the season in the event. She placed eighth overall.
 
The women's 4x100-meter relay of Keshawna Fisher, Theresa Sue, Larissa Wilson and Kinsey Coppedge ran its first NCAA Division  II provisional mark of the season with its 47.07. It was the seventh-fastest time at the meet.
 
Cathryn Rittenberry recorded at time of 14.33 in the 100-meter hurdles for a NCAA Division II provisional mark. She has a season-best time of 14.22.
 
Theresa Sue finished in third in the long jump. She recorded a NCAA Division II provisional mark of 19'-7.50” (5.98m). The junior has a season-best mark of 20'-3.50” (6.18m). Patrick Hunter hit a NCAA Division II mark in the men's long jump. He placed sixth with his jump of 23'-5.50” (7.15m).
 
Emeline Crutcher won the afternoon section of the women's 1500-meter with a time of 4:45.54 with teammate Alyssa Priest placing third with a 4:51.71. In the men's afternoon 1500-meter, Dylan Littlejohn placed second in a 4:03.64.
 
Crutcher turned around later in the evening and ran a personal best and set a new school record in the 5,000-meter. The Wellman native ran a 17:26.27 and placed fourth. The time is only six seconds off of the NCAA Division II provisional time. The previous school record was 17:35.2 set in 1999 by Cindy Farris.
 
Nick Smith clocked a season best in both the 100-meter and 200-meter. He ran the 100-meter in a 10.67 and crossed the line in 21.59 in the 200-meter.
 
Fisher ran a 57.43 in the 400-meter for her fastest time of the season for the junior transfer.
 
Bryan Barker (3:57.04), Dylan Littlejohn (4:03.64) and Tomas Callejas (4:08.49) all recorded season best times in the 1500-meter.
 
Sean Reagan hit a personal best in the men's shot put. He placed sixth with a throw of 52'-1” (15.87m).
 
Jacob McDonald won the men's pole vault by clearing 15'-7” (4.75m).

Others with seasonal bests include Jessica Boudreau (5,000-meter), Dalton Boyls (400-meter hurdles), Annifer Flores (5,000-meter), Jordan Gray (400-meter hurdles), Jamin Goecker (3,000-meter steeple), Keaton Hatch (javelin), Seth Pearson (100-meter hurdles, javelin), Chris Sottak (800-meter), Robbie Thayer (200-meter), Josh Tolentino (800-meter), Katy Williams (3,000-meter steeple)
 
The No. 7 Rams and No. 13 Rambelles now will start preparation for the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships held in Commerce, Texas, starting on Thursday, May 3.
