ANGELO STATE BASEBALL

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Ryan Greer and Lee Neumann each delivered two-out, two-RBI doubles and James Conlee pitched his way through constant pressure from Cameron as No. 18 Angelo State earned a 6-4 Lone Star Conference win over the Aggies on Sunday at Foster Field.
 
The victory secures the Rams (32-14, 16-8 LSC) a spot in the LSC Baseball Championship and also keeps them atop the conference standings after winning the series 3-1. ASU is tied with Texas A&M-Kingsville (16-8 LSC) going into the final week of the regular season. The Javelinas swept a home series against Eastern New Mexico, while Incarnate Word (14-9 LSC) is now in third and West Texas A&M (14-10 LSC) after the Cardinals took three of four this weekend from the Buffs.  Cameron (22-24, 10-14 LSC) falls to seventh in the conference standings.
 
Conlee (5-1) struck out only one, but was consistently able to get himself out of trouble despite eight hits and three walks. Michael Weatherly earned his eighth save of the season after coming in for the final two outs, including a swinging strikeout to end the game. Austin Church provided 2.1 innings of relief of Conlee and finished the game with four strikeouts.
 
Angelo State had nine hits in the game, with Brett Parsons, Greer and Neumann each having two-hit games. Quaid McKinnon, Toby Semler and Doug Snover also added hits for the Rams who led 2-1 after the first inning and 4-1 through the first six innings of the game. Zach Cohen added a run and a RBI.
 
The Rams host Abilene Christian (24-21, 11-12 LSC) in a four-game series next weekend at Foster Field for the final regular-season series. The series starts with a 6:30 p.m. on Friday, continues with a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and concludes with a single game at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
