SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team returns to action at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday against Cameron in a Lone Star Conference game at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.

The Rams (5-17, 2-12 LSC) are 5-6 at home this season, while the Aggies (13-7, 9-5 LSC) come into the game with a 4-7 record away from Lawton, Okla. The Aggies, who are 9-0 on their home court this season, have also won eight of their last 10 games and are coming off a 73-62 win over West Texas A&M on Saturday. ASU has lost its last seven games after dropping a 96-90 game to Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.

"They are playing well and are big and physical," ASU head coach Fred Rike said. "There are some matchup problems there for us that we have to game plan for and get our team ready for Wednesday."

Jovan Austin continues to lead the Rams with 12.6 points per game and 78 assists and 35 steals this season. The freshman out of South Grand Prairie High is the 11th best scorer in the conference this season and is 10th in assists. Antonio Dye is adding 11 points per game and a team-best 5.1 rebounds per game, while Bryan Hammond, Chris Talkington and Dakota Rawls are each scoring just over 10 points per game.

Rawls leads the Rams and the conference by shooting 88 percent from the free-throw line (47 of 53), while Talkington has made 39 3-pointers and his 43 percent shooting from beyond the arc ranks seventh in the LSC. Justin Walling, who is averaging 4.2 points per game, leads the LSC by making 53 percent of his 3-pointers this season (24 for 45).

Reggie Sutton is coming off career bests with 18 points and 11 rebounds against A&M-Commerce.

"We are moving the ball better and attacking more," Rike said. "We are still not finishing inside like I would like to see us do. If you look at our stat line, it's our perimeter players that are getting to the basket. We have to get other guys involved."

Craig Foster leads the Aggies at 16.1 points per game and leads the LSC with 111 assists (5.6 per), while Andrew D'Thomas is averaging 9.4 points. Jim Johnson is adding 9.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Aggies.

Cameron ranks fifth in scoring offense and scoring defense and is first in turnover to assist ratio (1.2). The Aggies are grabbing 12.2 offensive rebounds a game and 22.3 on the defensive end. CU is second in the conference by making 7.7 3-pointers per game.

Cameron won the first meeting between the two teams 92-72 on Jan. 2 in Oklahoma. Angelo State leads the all-time series 21-15 over the Aggies.

The game will be broadcast on 1260 KKSA and simulcast on AngeloSports.com with Jeremy Bryant on the call. Live video and stats are also available on AngeloSports.com.
