SAN ANGELO – Bryant Rutledge recorded seven strikeouts in five innings and Andrew LaCombe delivered two RBI to help lead No. 15 Angelo State to a 6-4 non-conference win over Bellarmine University on Tuesday at Foster Field in the final game of a two-game set.

Jake Feckley struck out five and earned a two-inning save for the Rams (12-5), while the Knights (3-4) have now dropped three straight games going into a series at Abilene Christian. The ASU pitching staff finished the game with 15 strikeouts with Michael Lange striking out two in 1.2 innings and Austin Church fanning another.

“I was really impressed with our pitchers in both games and thought they did a great job of going out there and competing,” ASU head coach Kevin Brooks said. “We still have to get better and especially we need to get healthy."

Tyler Coughenour led Angelo State with three hits and added an RBI with Reggie Rodriguez also contributing a single and double for the Rams who finished with 11 hits. ASU led the game 4-0 after three innings after Rodriguez had a first-inning RBI, Coughenour a second-inning RBI and Ryan Greer and LaCombe both drove in runs in the third.

ASU would tack on another run in the fifth on a LaCombe infield single and then its last run on a Quaid McKinnon RBI single to right field that scored Luke Solomon.
