Six Rams Named to 2014 Don Hansen All-Super Region Four Team

SAN ANGELO – Six Angelo State football players were named to the 2014 Don Hansen All-Super Region Four Team announced by the Don Hansen Football Committee.

Rush Seaver earned first team honors while Kyle Washington, Clayton Callicutt, Sam Fowler and Anthony Yancy honored on the second team. Anthony Landry picked up third team honors on the offensive line. It is the first selection to the Don Hansen All-Super Region Four team for all six student-athletes. The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2014 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team will be named in January.

It is Seaver's third Super Region Four first team honor of the season. The senior led the Rams with 148 total tackles and was 12.5 tackles for loss. The All-LSC first team linebacker finished with 148 tackles which is the second most in a single season in ASU history. He finished the season at No. 10 in NCAA Division II with 12.3 tackles per game. Seaver recorded a career-high 23 tackles against Eastern New Mexico which is the second-highest total in NCAA Division II in a single game this season. He ended his career with 395 tackles which is fifth on the ASU all-time career tackling list.

Washington earned second team honors at quarterback.  He became the first ASU quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards and set the ASU single season mark for passing touchdowns. His 3,236 yards was No. 18 nationally while his 34 passing touchdowns ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II.  He was responsible for 260 of the Rams school record 473 points. The junior quarterback also gained 911 yards on the ground and scored nine touchdowns. He finished the season averaging 345.5 yards per game of total offense which was No. 5 nationally. He was also named to the Daktronics All-Region Four second team and was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Year and the LSC Academic Player of the Year.

Yancy earned second team honors as a return specialist and was a second team honoree on the Daktronics and Beyond Sports Network lists.  The senior finished the year with a 27.5 yard per return average which put him at No. 21 nationally. He was one of 10 players that are tied for the national lead with two kickoff return touchdowns. The All-LSC first team specialist returned 26 kicks for 716 yards and broke the single-game record for return yards with 195 against West Texas A&M.

Callicutt, the LSC Defensive Lineman of the Year, was the LSC leader in tackles for loss with 20.0 and 8.0 sacks. He was fourth on the team with 76 tackles. The 8.0 sacks in a single season are the most since Dane Krager in 2000. The junior was a first team member of the Beyond Sports Network All-America team. 

Fowler was a second team selection and was a second team All-LSC honoree. The junior averaged 40.7 yards per punt this season. He downed 21 punts inside the 20 and eight punts over 50 yards. His season long of 67 yards came against Midwestern State.

Landry, a first team All-LSC selection, was a key member of the offensive line that only allowed 15 sacks during the season. The Rams offense set the single-season record for passing yards (3,392 yards) and total offense yards per game (469.7) this past season. He picked up second team honors on the Beyond Sports Network team.

The Rams had their most successful season since 1997 by advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. ASU went 9-3 and won the LSC Playoff Championship.
