SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State football program signed 22 high school athletes on National Signing Day, Wednesday, Feb. 4.
"We were excited to get out and hit the high schools in Texas," said head football coach,
Jeff Girsch. "We identified guys with great character, guys we feel are good people. Guys that we feel are the right fit for what we're trying to accomplish academically. The final part, obviously, being a good football player."
The Rams recorded a 12–9 split between offensive and defensive signees, along with one kicking specialist. The coaching staff placed a strong emphasis on the offensive line, signing eight players who bring versatility across all five positions. Those linemen average nearly 300 pounds.
"We looked for length and size, while wanting to find the guys who can move," said Girsch.
On the defensive side of the ball, Angelo State added talent at every level, signing six players in the front seven while also bolstering the secondary with athletes capable of making big plays.

In addition to the high school signees, the Rams added five transfers. These additions include experienced offensive linemen, a Division II wide receiver, and two junior college players—a quarterback and a linebacker.
"They're working hard and getting acclimated," said Girsch. "I am excited about all of them. We don't bring transfers in just because we can do it. We're bringing them in to compete for jobs, and they will do so throughout the spring."
