SERIES SCHEDULE @ Greyhound Field: 7 p.m., Friday; 2 p.m. Saturday (DH) *CST MEDIA LINKS: (4-5) is a two-time LSC Pitcher of the Week and has 63 strikeouts and a 4.07 ERA through 66 1/3 innings of work this season. Zgardowski, a junior right-hander from San Antonio, has thrown four complete games and is 10th in program history with his strikeout total for a single-season entering the weekend. Zgardowski recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts in a complete-game win over ENMU on March 29 at Foster Field. The seven-inning game saw the 11 strikeouts and Zgardowski limit the Greyhounds to four hits. He currently ranks third in the LSC in strikeouts.
Blake Bass (3-4) is coming off a strong pitching performance where he limited Texas A&M-Kingsville to two runs in eight innings of work and enters the weekend with a team-leading 2.29 ERA this season. His ERA ranks second in the LSC among starting pitchers. A junior right-hander from Lubbock, Bass has recorded 33 strikeouts this season and only eight walks through 10 starts and 11 appearances on the mound for the Rams. Bass is currently second in the LSC in ERA. Also an offensive threat, Bass hit his second home run of the season last weekend against the Javelinas and has a .241 batting average. He has eight RBI on two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 13 singles.
Jake Feckley (5-4) has recorded 57 strikeouts and has a 3.59 ERA through 80 1/3 innings in his senior season. A right-handed pitcher from Wylie, Feckley is the all-time winningest pitcher in ASU history and is second in the program's history with 169 career strikeouts. With a 20-12 (.625) all-time record, Feckley has a career 3.35 ERA through 220 innings since he transferred to ASU after pitching at Texas A&M during his freshman season. He has recorded nine strikeouts in three games during his career, including fanning nine Javelinas at home earlier this season.
Graylon Brown (5-2) leads the Rams with 22 appearances this season with 21 of them coming out of the bullpen. A sophomore right-hander, Brown has recorded 33 strikeouts this season and has a 3.78 ERA through 47 2/3 innings on the mound. He leads the Rams with four saves and has limited opponents to a .215 batting average. He has made 41 appearances and has 59 strikeouts in 81 innings pitched in his career at ASU. Dillon Becker (3-3), a sophomore right-hander, is in his first season at ASU and has made 15 appearances on the mound. A starter in six games, Becker has 34 strikeouts and a 5.06 ERA in 37 1/3 innings. A senior right-hander, Jake Albert (2-1) has made 15 appearances and has 19 strikeouts in 28 innings. A four-year pitcher for ASU, Albert has 74 strikeouts and a 3.99 ERA through 60 career appearances for the Rams. A senior left-hander, Mason Leavitt (0-1) has made 18 relief appearances this season and has 14 strikeouts and a 5.14 ERA this season.
Cameron Massengill enters this weekend with a team-high seven-game hitting streak and leads Angelo State with a .326 batting average this season. A junior from Kennedale, Massengill has made 42 starts at catcher this season and has 39 singles, four doubles and 13 RBI in his first season at ASU after transferring from Cisco College. Massengill has also walked eight times and has reached base by being hit by two pitches in 132 at-bats for the Rams. He is coming off a weekend where he went 4-for-7 against Texas A&M-Kingsville pitching and is hitting .337 in conference play this season.
Brett David is second on the team with a .314 batting average which includes nine doubles, a triple, a home run and 33 singles. A junior from El Paso, David has 21 RBI and leads the Rams with 14 multi-hit games this season. He has played at designated hitter, third base, second base and first base this season. David was named the LSC Hitter of the Week on Feb. 11 after a strong series against Texas A&M International in Laredo. Derek Tyner comes into the final regular-season series hitting .312 in his first season at ASU. A junior from Boerne, Tyner has 12 multi-hit games this season with 39 singles and five doubles. A transfer from Odessa College, Tyner has 20 RBI and has reached base 11 times on walks and has been hit by three pitches.
Tyler Coughenour leads the Rams with four home runs and 11 doubles in his senior season. In his second year at ASU after transferring from Wichita State, Coughenour is hitting .297 and has 13 multi-hit games. He has stolen 18 bases which is third in the conference behind TAMUK's Derrick Walls' 21 and teammate Nehwon Norkeh's 19. Coughenour, who was named the LSC Hitter of the Week on Feb. 4, hit a three-run walk-off home run two weeks ago against West Texas A&M and has five home runs and 43 stolen bases in his career at Angelo State. Coughenour has played at shortstop and second base this season for the Rams. Norkeh, a true freshman from Minnesota, has three triples and three home runs to go along with five doubles. He also has 14 RBI in his first year at ASU. Also in his first season playing for the Rams, JP Zapata is hitting .361 with a double, two triples and 19 singles. A freshman from San Angelo, Zapata served in the Iraq War before returning to his hometown and walking on to the ASU baseball team. He started his collegiate career 5-for-5 and has five RBI for the Rams in 61 at-bats.
David Goggin tops ASU's run production with 29 RBI this season and comes into the weekend with a .296 batting average which includes five doubles, three triples and 40 singles. Last season's LSC Freshman of the Year, Goggin, who had a career-high four hits on April 20 at Cameron, is a left-handed hitting sophomore from Red Wing, Minn. who has played in the outfield and catcher this season. He is the only player to start all 47 games this season and he has stolen 12 bases. Christian Summers is second on the team with 25 RBI and is hitting .273 with eight doubles, three triples and two home runs. A senior from San Angelo, Summers has a .308 career batting average at ASU with 107 hits. His career numbers include 27 doubles, 10 triples, four home runs and 30 stolen bases. Goggin leads the team with 19 walks, while Summers is second with 18 walks. Summers, who is a two-time LSC Hitter of the Week, has made 30 starts at shortstop and 16 at third base this season. He was a 19th round selection by the San Diego Padres last summer in the Major League Baseball draft. Goggin has made 36 starts in left field, six at catcher and five in right field.
Reggie Rodriguez enters this weekend on a five-game hitting streak and is hitting .250 with four doubles, a triple, a home run and 15 RBI in his senior season. An outfielder from Puerto Rico, Rodriguez has stolen nine bases and has been hit by 12 pitches this season which is second on the team behind Coughenour who has been hit 14 times. Hunter Choate has 11 multi-hit and five multi-RBI games in his sophomore season and enters this weekend with a .266 batting average which includes five doubles, a triple, a home run and 35 singles. He has 22 RBI on the year and has played at third base and second base this season for the Rams. Choate was named the LSC Hitter of the Week on March 12 after a strong home series against Tarleton State. EASTERN NEW MEXICO GREYHOUND REPORT (24-23, 13-19 LSC)
The Greyhounds are coming off a 2-1 series win over Cameron last weekend in Portales which improved their home record to 14-9 on the season. ENMU took the first game of the series 21-3 before securing its ninth one-run win of the season by a score of 5-4. The team is 9-7 in one-run games this season and 1-3 against ASU.
Matthew Burks, who has been named the LSC Hitter of the Week the past two weeks, leads ENMU and is third in the conference with a .389 batting average. His 70 hits are second in the LSC behind WT's Nick Chapman who has 71. Burks leads the conference with 10 home runs, 48 runs scored and 114 total bases. A junior outfielder, Burks is a transfer from Diablo Valley College. Brett Ackerman is second on the team with a .363 batting average with four doubles and two triples, while Blake Cooper leads the team with 37 RBI and is second in the conference with eight home runs.
Rawley Gomez (.330), Rafael Romo (.301) and Colton Sims (.300) round out six ENMU hitters at .300 or higher entering the final week of the regular season. As a team, the Greyhounds are second in the conference with a .301 team batting average and 23 home runs.
Ben Moticello (5-4) leads the ENMU pitching staff with 43 strikeouts, while Matthew Artalejo (6-5) has a team-best 3.89 ERA. Artalejo has recorded 39 strikeouts in 74 innings and Rusty Edwards (4-3) has 37 strikeouts and a 3.92 ERA in 57 1/3 innings of work.
