Dallas Promoted to Offensive Coordinator

SAN ANGELO – Angelo State's head football coach Will Wagner didn't have to look far to find the next person to guide the Ram offense promoting Drew Dallas to offensive coordinator.

Dallas has been an integral part of the offensive staff at Angelo State since 2011 as a graduate assistant and promoted to assistant coach in 2012. He has worked with the wide receivers since 2011 and picked up recruiting coordinator duties in 2012.

"Drew has been with us since our first season at Angelo State and is knowledgeable and comfortable in our offense," Wagner said. "He has shown that he is prepared to be our offensive coordinator and I am confident in his ability to continue to build on the success we have had."

The Ram offense is coming off a record setting season by leading the nation in total offense with 560.4 yards per game. Dallas takes over for former assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Theron Aych who resigned to pursue other career opportunities.

"I am extremely excited and thankful for this opportunity," Dallas said. "I am looking forward to helping guide our offense while continuing to build on our past success. We have a great foundation in place and can't wait to get to work with our players and coaches."

In his four seasons, Dallas coached some of the most prolific receivers in ASU history in C.J. Akins, Dakarai Pecikonis and Donovan Thompson. Thompson, a 2015 LSC All-Conference first team selection, set the ASU single season record for receiving yards with 1,133 yards. He also caught 70 passes and scored eight touchdowns. Talon Smith added all-conference honorable mention honors in 2015 after 37 catches and 598 yards.  Pecikonis became the all-time ASU leader in receiving yards and reception in 2014 and ended his career with 2,831 yards and 189 receptions.  Akins became the fifth receiver in school history to surpass 2,000 yards in a single season. Dallas also mentored Chris Omigie, Anthony Yancy, Talon Smith and Pecikonis to the LSC all-conference honors in 2014, Joey Knight in 2013 and Akins and Pecikonis in 2012.

Dallas came to Angelo State after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. He graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education.

Dallas played quarterback for two seasons for Kansas Wesleyan after starting his collegiate career at Fort Hays State. He played and then coached under his father, Dave Dallas, who spent 16 years as the head coach at KWU after eight years at Ottawa University. He is currently the head coach at North County High School in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Drew Dallas threw for 2,882 yards and 33 touchdowns at Kansas Wesleyan. He ranks second in career passing completions and third in passing yards on the Coyotes' all-time list.

He is a graduate of Salina Central High and was a sophomore and junior during the Mustangs back-to-back state championship season in 2001 and 2002.

Dallas is married to Heather Dallas and the couple has a daughter named Hayden and a son named Cooper. He graduated in August of 2013 with a Masters of Education in Education Administration from Angelo State University.
