SAN ANGELO – The No. 7/6-ranked Angelo State basketball team returns to action at 5 p.m. (CST) on Saturday against Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference game at the Greyhound Arena in Portales, New Mexico.
The Rams (20-1, 8-0 LSC) are on a program-record 15-game winning streak and reached the 20-win milestone on Wednesday for only the fifth time in program history. Angelo State is now 39-10 in the past two seasons under head coach

Cinco Boone. ASU will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak in Portales which includes a 72-68 overtime loss to the Greyhounds (7-14, 0-8 LSC) last season. ENMU is 8-7 against the Rams in the past 15 games played at the Greyhound Arena. ASU is 6-1 away from San Angelo this season and is 3-1 outside the state of Texas and 1-0 in games played in New Mexico. The lone loss on ASU's resume came with a 70-67 defeat to Colorado Mesa on Nov. 28, 2014 and has been followed by 15 wins – 14 of which have come in double-figures. One of those wins includes a 112-81 victory over ENMU back on Jan. 17 at the Junell Center. The 112 points was the fifth time ASU scored over 100 points this season and was one point shy of the top point production of the season.
ASU's last win in Portales came with a 70-68 win on Jan. 26, 2011. The Rams earned an 85-52 over Western New Mexico earlier this season for their win in New Mexico.
The Rams, who are only three wins shy of the most wins in a season in program history, lead the nation with a 54.3 field-goal percentage and a 26.7 scoring margin advantage this season and are second in the nation defensively by limiting opponents to a 37.9 field-goal percentage. ASU is third in the country with a 1.61 assists-to-turnover margin, fifth in total assists (410), sixth in rebound margin (9.8 per game) and seventh in defensive rebounds per game (29.40). A plus-4.7 turnover margin has the team at ninth nationally and its 195 steals ranks first in the conference and 18th throughout Division II. ASU's 19.5 team-assists per game tops the LSC and is sixth nationally.
Angelo State is ranked No. 7 by the NABC which is the highest ranking in program history. ASU has been ranked seven times this season and for six straight weeks. The Rams entered the polls at No. 23 on Nov. 25, dropped out after a 70-67 road loss at Colorado Mesa but reemerged at No. 22 on Dec. 27. The climb up the national rankings is currently the highest in program history which was previously No. 13 in 1984 before this season.

ANGELO STATE RAM ROSTER REPORTChris Jones leads the conference with 109 assists and 56 steals and is second in the LSC with a 62.5 field-goal percentage. He is coming off a career-best 25 points against West Texas A&M where he also had four assists and four steals. Jones, who had matched his previous season-best with 23 points last Saturday against Texas A&M-Kingsville, has recorded four or more assists in 17 games and has three or more steals in 13 games. A senior from Dallas, Jones is averaging 15.7 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game for the Rams. He's scored in double digits in 19 of 21 games this season and recorded a season-best 12 assists against York College. He is a three-time LSC Defensive Player of the Week winner and has also earned one LSC Offensive Player of the Week honor. Jones scored 21 points and had five assists in the first matchup against the Greyhounds.
Raijon Kelly is averaging 10.6 points per game and is shooting 57.2 percent from the field (87 of 152) and is 29 of 33 from the free-throw line. He recorded a career-high 22 points in the first game against ENMU when he went 7-for-7 from the field, including drilling two 3-pointers. Kelly has scored in double-digits in 12 games this season and has recorded four or more assists in nine games. A senior from Minnesota, Kelly has 74 assists and 17 steals this season. He is averaging 3.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game and is third in the conference with his 2.77 assists-to-turnover ratio. Â
Demario Mayfield leads the Rams this season with 16.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game and has nine double-doubles. One of only eight players in the nation with a triple-double on his resume, Mayfield has scored 20 or more points in seven games and has six or more rebounds in 14 games this season. He is coming off his ninth double-double of the season after scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against West Texas A&M. He also had six assists in the game. A senior from Royston, Georgia, he scored a season-best 23 points in wins over Colorado Mesa, Western State Colorado and Texas-Permian Basin. He scored 18 points and had seven rebounds against the Greyhounds in their first meeting. He recorded his triple-double with 14 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds against Arlington Baptist. He is currently second in the conference in rebounding and fifth in scoring.
Marsell Holden is leading the Rams with 60 3-pointers this season and is also averaging 14.0 points per game. Holden is second in the LSC with his 60 3-pointers and is coming off a 11-point performance against the WT. He scored a season-best 26 points against ENMU earlier this season and has scored in double digits in the past six games. He has 12 games with three or more 3-pointers, including a season-high seven 3-pointers against Arkansas-Monticello. A senior from Farrell, Pennsylvania, Holden is shooting 42.9 percent on his 140 3-point attempts and is shooting 48.5 percent (97 of 200) from the field.
Tommy Woolridge went 2 of 4 on 3-pointers and scored eight points last Saturday against the Javelinas and is averaging 5.0 points per game. Woolridge has hit 18 3-pointers this season and has made 55 shots from beyond the arc in his two seasons at ASU. A senior from Chicago, Woolridge led ASU with 37 3-pointers last season and has also provided 20 assists and 19 steals this season. He scored a season-best 14 points after hitting 3 of 4 of his 3-pointers in ASU's win at West Texas A&M earlier this season but was held scoreless against the Buffs on Wednesday. He scored 10 points after hitting a pair of 3-pointers against ENMU at the Junell Center earlier this season.
Thomas Brandsma matched his season-high with eight points on Wednesday against WT after shooting 3-for-3 from the field and also hitting two free throws. Brandsma, who is a junior from Colleyville, is in his second season with the Rams after transferring from McMurry. He is averaging 2.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game and has also contributed 14 assists and seven blocked shots.
Omari Gudul has scored in double digits in the past three of the past four games, including 11 points last Saturday against Kingsville after scoring 12 against Commerce and Cameron. He was limited to two points against WT on Wednesday in only 11 minutes of action. Gudul, who is in his second season with the Rams, is averaging 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. An inside force, he's shooting 67 of 101 from the field (66.3 percent) and has 102 rebounds this season.
Bilal Richardson has started the last nine games for ASU and is averaging 5.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. A junior from Atlanta, Richardson recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points against Arkansas-Monticello and scored a season-best 15 points against York College. Gudul and Richardson lead the team with 16 blocked shots each.
Brentine Taylor is adding 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game for the Rams. He scored six points last Saturday against Texas A&M-Kingsville, but was held scoreless on Wednesday against the Buffs and to two rebounds. Taylor scored a season-best 13 points at McMurry and grabbed a season-high seven rebounds against ENMU in the first game between the two teams.

EASTERN NEW MEXICO GREYHOUND REPORTThe Greyhounds (7-14, 0-8 LSC) come into Saturday's game on an eight-game losing streak which dates back to an 80-74 non-conference win over South Dakota School of Mines on Jan. 2 in Portales. ENMU is coming off an 83-52 loss on Wednesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road and it is 1-6 this season at the Greyhound Arena.
John Gilliam leads ENMU with 16.6 points and 5.7 rebounds this season, including scoring 22 points and grabbing five rebounds against the Rams. Gilliam is a junior from California who also has 46 assists and 16 steals and is coming off a 25-point performance against the Javelinas. Chris Wyms is adding 13.0 points per game and leads the team with 52 assists, while Lawrence Domingo is at 12.4 points per game after scoring seven on Wednesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Greyhounds have been limited to a 38.5 field-goal percentage throughout this season and have a minus-6.2 rebounding margin. ENMU will continue its schedule after playing the Rams by hosting Cameron next Wednesday at the Greyhound Arena.
