No.12/20 Angelo State Set for TAMUC Match-up

SAN ANGLEO, Texas – The No.12/20 Rams basketball team heads to Texas A&M – Commerce to face the Lions on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Angelo State will be looking to continue its two game winning streak and build off of its double overtime win over Tarleton State. The Rams now sit at 18-4 on the season and 6-4 in the conference after Wednesday's win.  ASU's offensive attack remains at the top of the conference sinking an average of 89.1 points per game. It also leads the LSC with a .730 free throw percentage.  It also leads the conference with a 15.6 per game average. On the defensive side of the ball, Angelo State has remained in the national top 10 in forced turnovers per game (18.00) for the majority of the season. Its 9.0 steals per game average is a conference first. The last time the two squads faced-off, TAMUC came away with a 93-88 victory in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center. The Lions will enter Saturday's game with a record of 16-7, 5-5 LSC and will be looking to rebound after falling to Texas A&M – Kingsville, 71-84, on the road.  

Tre Bennett leads the Rams offense and remains third in the conference averaging a team high 16.7 points per game. Posting 14 points against Tarleton State, he has now extended his streak of scoring double-figure points to 13 consecutive games. The senior is currently averaging a .451 shooting percentage from the field, a .380 percent from 3-point range and a .858 percent from the free throw line. He leads the team and is second in the conference averaging 4.7 total assists per game. He has now contributed a team leading 31 steals to the team's defensive efforts for the season.

Stedman Allen trails just behind averaging a team second and conference fourth 16.5 points per game. The New York native leads the Rams shooting a team high .522 percent from the field. His team leading 17 points against Tarleton State marked his 13th consecutive game scoring double- digits. Defensively, he has improved his rebound per game average to a team third 5.2 per game and has recorded a team second three double-doubles on the year.   

Quay King remains second on the team and sixth in the conference averaging 2.3 threes per game with a .353 shooting percentage from deep.  The guard out of Atlanta, Georgia has knocked down 3-of-6 shots from beyond the arc against TSU and has hit multiple threes in 15 total games this season. He is currently averaging 9.9 points per game. The guard has tallied nine total games this season recording double-digit points.  

Omari Gudul looks to continue his solid performance after posting 14 points, six boards and three blocks against TSU. The big man leads the Rams pulling down a team leading 7.8 rebounds per game. He continues to hold on to the fourth in the LSC in the rebounds per game category. Averaging 1.9 blocks per game, he has also tallied a team first 43 blocks. The senior has recorded four consecutive games with a block and 14 games overall with multiple blocks. Gudul is averaging a team fourth 9.2 points per game and continues to lead the squad with four double-doubles on the season.

Thomas Tshikaya has grabbed multiple rebounds in 20 games this season. The junior forward is averaging a team second 5.0 rebounds per game and remains second on the team with 24 total blocks. Offensively, he is averaging 6.5 points per game.  

Finally, Prince Foster and Shaquan Rhoades have provided all-around support for the Rams this season. Foster hung on to third on ASU with an average of 2.0 assists per game. He is also averaging 7.2 points per game. Defensively, he has a team second 29 steals on the season and continues to remain third on the team with 19 blocks. Rhoades is second on the team with a 2.1 assist per game average. He is also third on the Rams with 25 steals this year and has recorded a steal in seven of the last eight games.
