At the 16:33 mark, a Williams's layup would give the Rams its greatest lead of the half with nine-point difference (12-3).
The Chaps would slowly cut the Angelo State lead, and regained it with 5:33 on the cock and 27-26 on the scoreboard. Despite a monster dunk by Williams and two more free throws from Singleton, the Rams would be unable to take back the lead before heading into the halftime break.
Singleton would then open the second a half stroking a short-range jumper to kick of an 11-3 run to regain the lead (45-44). LCU would briefly regain a lead at the 16:07 mark before it would change hands again with Mims and Singleton knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers with 15:12 left in the game.
The lead would then change hands twice more, before a 7-1 Rams' run that included a major fast break slam from Kirksey (4:56) placed the team in the driver's seat for the final time. Kiair Crouch, Williams and Kirksey sunk five consecutive shots from the charity stripe to close out the game for ASU.
The Rams will now have about a week off for the holidays before they return to the court to take on McMurray on Thursday, December 28th. Tipoff for this home game is slated for 7:00 p.m. in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center. Â Â Â
