SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State men's basketball team will take a one-game break from Lone Star Conference play this weekend, taking on Dallas Christian College at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
The Rams (14-5, 6-4 LSC) are coming off a Tuesday night win against Texas A&M-Kingsville that saw them use a late 8-0 run to secure the victory.
Dallas Christian is currently 11-6 on the season including a 101-99 win over Central Baptist College who ASU took down earlier this year.
Averaging 83.6 points per game, Angelo State leads the Lone Star Conference in three-point field goal percentage, turnover margin, as well as second in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio.
Forward Will Adler leads the way from behind the arc, shooting 45 percent with 50 made shots from downtown on the year. Adler averages 10.7 points per game and is one of four players on the team averaging more than 10 per contest.
Ja'Michael Brown leads the team in scoring average with 13.1 points per game and also has the most assists on the team with 67. Brandon Williams is just behind Brown with 11.8 per game and scored a career-high 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Williams is also the team leader in blocks with 30 as well as rebounds with 123. Â
James Kirksey is the fourth and final Ram averaging double figures with 11.5 points per game on the season. Kirksey has contributed in a number of other areas as well, leading the team in assists and steals as well as ranking second in rebounding. Â Â
A balanced offensive attack from the Rams includes three other players just under the 10 points per game mark, including Antonio Singleton, Daron Mims and Kiair Crouch.
Singleton has been a strong attacker, averaging 9.4 points per game as well as racking up 41 assists. Mims follows c lose behind with 9.3 points per game and Crouch averages 8.1 points per game from the point guard position. Crouch is also second on the team from behind the arc, hitting 24 three-pointers on the season.
Angelo State has also gotten strong contributions off the bench from Davion Cole-Johnson, Ran Tut, William Thciengang and Brandon Conwright. Cole-Johnson averages 4.8 points per game while Tut is second on the team in blocked shots.
