Elvir, Novak, and Williams Earn NCBWA All-American Honors

PEMBROKE, NC – Josh Elvir, Nicholas Novak, and Jordan Williams were honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday to cap off the Rams' historic season. The three earned their All-American honors after helping lead the Rams to a season in which the team broke both the regular season win total record (42) and longest winning streak (17 games).

Josh Elvir was named as a First-Team All-American as well as the National Player of the Year after his exceptional season. He leads the nation in batting average (.458), on base percentage (.584), RBI (81), slugging percentage (.989), is second in triples (9), third in total bases (177), fourth in runs scored (75), fourth in home runs (20), and sixth in walks (50).  The hard-hitting Kemah native also made a claim for what could stand as the most successful season for an Angelo State hitter ever. Elvir claims the following rankings in the ASU Baseball record book (single season) in his 179 at bats:

1st- Highest Batting Average (.458)

1st- Highest Slugging Percentage (.989)

1st- Highest on Base Percentage (.584)

1st – Most Intentional Walks - 6

T1st- Most Triples (9)

2nd- Most home runs (20)

2nd- Most RBI (81)

2nd- Most Total bases (177)

2nd- Most walks (50)

4th- Highest Stolen Base Percentage (.917) (11-12)

4th- Most Runs Scored (75)

Nick Novak and Jordan Williams also earned honorable mention All-American honors. Novak started at the shortstop position for all 58 games of the season, hitting at a .322 clip while driving in 56 runs. The Minnesota talent also had 6 home runs, 11 doubles, and four triples that aided in his 106 base-producing effort. Novak also showed next-level range in the shortstop position, using his speed, footwork, and strong arm to make plays from deep in the six hole.

Jordan Williams spent plenty of time on the bases, starting all 58 games at third base defensively and reaching base when hitting 52% of the time. Williams had only five errors in 123 chances with 29 putouts and 89 assists at the hot corner. The Round Rock native led the Lone Star Conference in sacrifice bunts with 11 and stole 20 bases on his own. Williams' ability to move runners and consistently reach base made him a consistent producer in the Ram lineup.

Fans can wait for the MLB draft that takes place from Monday, June 3 – Wednesday, June 5 to see if any of their favorite Rams have their name called.
