SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University men's basketball team returns home to the Junell Center to host No. 6 St. Edward's University and St. Mary's on Thursday, January 23 and Saturday, January 25, respectively. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 4:00 p.m on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers enter the weekend 16-1 overall and 10-1 in Lone Star Conference action. St. Edward's is on a 10-game winning streak and has not lost a game since November 23 against Texas A&M-Commerce. This will be the 15^th meeting on the hardwood between both teams with ASU leading the all-time series, 11-3. The last time these two teams met in the regular season was November 17, 2018 with SEU claiming a 65-58 victory. SEU and ASU met a second time that season in the postseason at the NCAA DII South Central Regional with the Hilltoppers edging out the Rams, 82-81.
 
The Rattlers come to the Junell with a 9-8 record overall and a 5-6 record in the LSC. St. Mary's leads the all-time series against the Rams, 21-15. The last time these two teams met was on December 8, 2018 with the Rams claiming an 89-63 victory. Since 2007, the Rams own a 9-4 record against St. Mary's and a 5-1 record at home.
 
Scouting St. Edward's
St. Edward's leads the South Central Region in the regional poll and leads their pod in the LSC. St. Edward's ranks second in conference for scoring with an 89.5 points per game average and leads the conference in Field goal percentages with a 0.500 and percent defense with a 0.422. The Hilltoppers also lead the conference in three-point field goal percentage with a 0.375. On offense, Ashton Spears averages 18.6 points a game and is shooting .512 percent from the field. August Haas leads the team and the conference in assists with 135 and a 7.9 assists per game average. On defense, Dorian Lopez leads the team with 121 and averages 7.1 rebounds a game.
 
Scouting St. Mary's
Caleb Jordan leads the Rattler offense with 15.6 points per game and is shooting .416 percent from the field. Kobe Magee contributes to the offense averaging 11.8 points per game and leads the team in assists with 96.  Defensively, Emmanuel Ewuzie has grabbed 93 rebounds and averages 5.5 rebounds a game.
 
Last Time Out
The Rams finished a three-game stint at West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. Against West Texas A&M, Andres Ibarguen carried the Rams' offense and defense, scoring a career-high 27 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Ibarguen went 11-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Against Eastern New Mexico, Collin Turner and Ibarguen finished with 18 points each. Turner went 6-of-12 from the floor, including 3-of-8 from downtown and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Ibarguen finished 7-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the line. The 6-5 forward also grabbed eight rebounds, five of them offensively.

Notable Players
Ibarguen's performances over the weekend moved him to first in the conference overall stats for field goal percentage with a .700. Against conference only opponents, Ibarguen leads with a .728 in conference only stats. Ibarguen ranks third in the conference for rebounds with a 120 and an 8.6 average.
 
Turner leads the Ram offense with 16.6 points per game. He ranks eighth in the conference for scoring and second in conference for three-point field goal percentage with a .430. In just conference stats against LSC opponents, Turner ranks sixth with 17.0 points per game and third in three-point field goal percentage with a .411.
