SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University men's basketball team returns home for rematches against Eastern New Mexico and No. 3 West Texas A&M on Thursday, February 6 and Saturday, February 8, respectively. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Series History
The Rams and Greyhounds meet for the second time this season. The last meeting was back on January 18 of this year with the Blue and Gold claiming a 74-70 victory. With the win, the Rams tied the all-time series at 39-39.

Andres Ibarguen led the ASU offense with 18 points apiece. Ibarguen led the defense with eight rebounds. The Greyhounds enter the weekend 6-13 overall and 6-8 in conference action.

Angelo State and West Texas also meet for the second time this season with the last meeting back on January 16 and the Buffaloes claimed an 88-73 victory. ASU trails the all-time series 21-47. The Rams led most of the game until the 14:48 minute mark of the second half, as both teams battled before WT ran away with it starting at the 13:52 mark. Ibarguen carried the team, scoring a career and season-high 27 points and he grabbed eight rebounds. He went 11-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. The Buffs enter the weekend 21-1 overall and 13-1 in conference play.

Last Time Out
The Rams return home after a two-game road trip to the University of Texas at Tyler and Texas A&M - Commerce. The Blue and Gold and the Patriots battled in the first five minutes of the game but ASU managed to extend its lead to 36-22 at the 4:40 mark and went into halftime leading 46-35. The Rams momentum continued through the second half, as they got up to a 15-point differential at 59-44 and 61-46 around the 14 minute mark. Angelo State held on to the double-digit lead until the 1:16 mark when the Patriots scored four points to trail 85-76 with 43 seconds remaining but ASU came out with an 88-82 victory.

Against the Lions, Angelo State claimed its first victory in five years at Commerce, defeating the Lions 72-69. It was a slow start for the Rams until the 14:14 mark when
Jeremy Hayes tied the game at 11-11 with a jump shot. Both teams then continued to tie the game until the 9:54 mark, as the Lions led 23-18.
Paul Williams gave ASU its first lead off back-to-back three-pointers late in the first half and trailed 35-34 at halftime. To start the second half, Ibarguen knocked in a couple free throws to give ASU the lead once again at 36-35. From there, the two teams traded off the lead until the 15:25 mark when the Blue and Gold took a three-point lead at 45-42 and held on to it and pushed it to 62-53 at the 8:25 mark. Angelo State controlled the game the rest of the way taking a 72-69 victory to go 2-0 on the weekend.

After the weekend, Ibarguen notched two more double-doubles to improve to seven on the season. Ibarguen ranks fourth in the conference for rebounds with an 8.8 average per game. He leads the conference in field goal percentage with a .711 and ranks third in the nation. On the offensive side, the 6-5 forward ranks fifth nationally and first in conference for offensive rebounds per game with 4.11.

Collin Turner leads the team with 16.1 points per game. He ranks eighth in the conference for points per game average. From behind the three-point line, Turner shoots 41.0 percent (41-100) and ranks 11
th in conference for three-point field goals per game with 2.4.

Ronald Bell notched his third double-double of the season and ranks third on the team with 14.1 points per game. He has grabbed 109 rebounds for an average of 6.8 rebounds per game.
