SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team will finally return to competition after a week hiatus due to the extreme weather
as the Rams travel to Midwestern State on Saturday before returning home to play Texas A&M – Commerce on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
Saturday's game is set for 5:30 p.m., while Tuesday's game at home, originally scheduled on Jan. 29, is a makeup game against the Lions at 1 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Midwestern State leads 48-33, Last Meeting: ASU, 80-74
Although Midwestern State leads the all-time series, recent history has gone the Rams' way as ASU was picked up wins in nine of the last 13 matchups between these two teams. During the 2019-20 season, the Mustangs won the only matchup of the season, winning 80-74 at home.

The Mustangs have had a strong offense throughout the season, ranking fourth in the league in points per game at 81.4. They are fourth in the conference in three-point percentage and have made a league high 177 three-pointers this season. Midwestern State is also the top rebounding team in the LSC, averaging 39.7 rebounds per game, outrebounding opponents by seven.
Terrell Wilson leads the Mustangs in points per game, averaging 14.8 pointers per game while three Mustangs rank in the top 20 in the conference in rebounds with Jermane Carter (7.0), Derrick Ogechi (6.3), and Jalin Brown (6.0). Also average double figures in points is Ogechi and Luke Hamilton, averaging 12.1 and 11.3 points respectively.

The Rams and Lions have been even, going 5-5 over the last 10 meetings. Angelo State has won the last two matchups, winning last season 72-69 on the road, and again in the 2018-19 season, 81-67.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M – COMMERCE:
While the Lions are averaging 72.2 points per game, their defense has been well all season, giving up the fourth lowest average in the conference at 73.2 points per game. TAMUC is holding opponents to a field goal percentage of .457 and a three-point percentage of .278, the lowest in the league. The Lions also rank fifth in the Lone Star in rebounds per game, collecting 35.5.
Demarcus Demonia is the leading scoring for TAMUC, averaging 13.4 points per game, followed by Augustine Ene with 12.9 and Devin Bethely with 12.8. Bethely also leads the conference in assists per game, averaging 5.9.

Williams has continued to lead the Rams in scoring during the second half of the season, improving his average to 14.8 points per game which ranks 15th overall in the league. He has tallied 20-plus points three times this season while hitting a season-high 21 points against WT. Williams is also fifth in the league in free-throw percentage at .875, converting 63-of-72 attempts.
The Rams have stepped up the effort under the basket, ranking eighth in the conference now is rebounding with 35.2 boards per game, edging out opponents at 34.5 rebounds.
Baker ranks second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points per game followed by
Burone Edwards with 8.5 and
Devaughn Thomas with 8.4 Thomas also leads the team in rebounds with an average of 5.1.
