SAN ANGELO – Coming off their first conference win of the season, a tight 1-0 win over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, the Belles are back on the pitch with a pair of matches this week, hosting Texas A&M International on Wednesday before making the trip to Edmond, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.
The Belles are 6-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, dropping their opener last Wednesday to St. Mary's in San Antonio 2-1 before coming home and defeating the Greyhounds 1-0.
Madison Maxey scored her first goal of the season against the Rattlers, while
Valerie Solis scored the lone goal, a penalty kick, in the Belles' win on Saturday for her first goal of her season.
The Belles have scored 21 times this season, third-best in the conference while only conceding four goals, the second-best mark in the LSC.
Cindy Rodriguez leads the team with four goals this season; she is one of three Belles with at least five goal contributions so far, with teammates
Avery McNeme (eight) and Solis (six) the only ones to reach that mark.
McNeme currently leads the conference with six assists on the season, with Solis ranking second with five.
Defensively, the Belles only allow five shots per game while shooting 17.3 times on offense.
Cassidy Hill has played the full 90 minutes in five of the Belles' seven matches this season, and goalkeeper
Kira Miller has recorded 16 saves while only conceding four goals.
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International enter this week 1-6 overall on the season with an 0-2 record in conference play. Six of the seven Dustdevils' matches this season have been decided, with the one exception being their last match, a 3-1 loss to Lubbock Christian.
Valeria Macias leads the team with two of the six goals the Dustdevils have scored this season; she is second in the conference in shots taken and third in shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano has recorded 42 saves in seven matches with a .778 save percentage.
The Dustdevils are second in the conference in fouls committed per game and have drawn a league-high 10 yellow cards, being the only team in the LSC to average over one booking per match.
Dating back to 2006, the Belles are 4-1-1 against the Dustdevils; under head coach
Travis McCorkle, the Belles have three wins and one draw against the Dustdevils, with the two teams recording a 3-3 draw last time they met in San Angelo.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Oklahoma Christian is 1-3-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference play, having earned a draw on the road against Lubbock Christian before beating UT Tyler 2-1 in overtime.
The Eagles have scored a league-low three goals on the season but have only allowed nine goals against them. Defensively, they have committed a league-low 37 fouls.
The Belles have won all three matchups against the Eagles under McCorkle, outscoring the Eagles 13-1 over the three matchups. In their last match in 2019, the Belles left Oklahoma with a 2-0 win.
After this week, the Belles will host UT Permian Basin next Wednesday before going on the road to take on DBU next Saturday.
