Men's Basketball Travels for LSC Contests Against WT and Cameron

The Angelo State men's basketball team will head back out on the road this week as the Rams continue Lone Star Conference play at eighth-ranked West Texas A&M and Cameron.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
The Rams split last week's games, defeating Midwestern State 75-73 before falling to DBU. Against the Mustangs, ASU overcame a 15-point deficit to win as Dante Moses led the Rams with 17 points followed by Tyrell Carroll and Devaughn Thomas with 15 and 12 points respectively.

All-Time Series: WT leads the all-time series 50-21.

The Buffs have held the advantage over the Rams for the last few years, winning 12 straight games. From 2014-2016, the Rams won five straight games against WT with the last win coming on Jan. 13, 2016, winning 85-75 at home.
 
SCOUTING WEST TEXAS A&M:
The Buffs enter the week as the eighth-ranked team in the NBCA Division II Top 25 poll. WT is 16-2 overall on the season and has started conference play going 3-1, picking up wins over Texas A&M – Commerce and UT Tyler. The Buffs have gone 1-1 against Top 10 opponents, defeating fourth-ranked Colorado Mesa to begin the season and falling to No. 9 Lubbock Christian. WT's last game was on Jan. 8 after last week's competitions were postponed.
 
WT currently holds the second highest-scoring offense in the Lone Star, averaging 79.8 points per game. On the other side of the ball, the Buffs are holding opponents to 63.7 points per game, the fourth-lowest average in the conference, while outscoring opponents by 16.2 points. They are also the leading rebounding team in the LSC, collecting 40.2 boards per game, and hold the highest turnover margin at plus-5.11.
 
Zach Toussaint leads the Buffs with 15.3 points per game which ranks seventh in the conference, followed by Larry Wise who is adding 14.7 points per game of his own. Kavon Booker is the leading rebounder for WT, collecting 106 rebounds on the season while Wise and Julius Brown have tallied 39 and 38 assists respectively.

All-Time Series: The Rams lead the all-time series against the Aggies, 18-12.
Last Meeting: Dec. 21, 2019: ASU, 84-75 – Lawton, Okla.
The Rams and Aggies did not meet during the shortened 2020-22 season, last facing each other in 2019. ASU has won six of the last eight games including the last two meetings.
 
SCOUTING CAMERON:
The Aggies are currently 2-7 on the season, holding an 0-3 record in Lone Star games. Cameron won its first game of the season, defeating Colorado State-Pueblo, while picking up another win over Western New Mexico in overtime, winning 82-77.
 
Cameron is averaging the second least amount of points per game, scoring 67.2 points per game while allowing the second-most points at 76.7. The Aggies are shooting .405 on the season from the field and have the least amount of turnovers in the conference with 126 on the season. Colt Savage is the leading scoring for the Aggies with 14.1 points per game which is 14th in the LSC while Connor Slater is fourth in rebounding average with 7.1 per game.
