SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team returned to winning ways after routing Eastern New Mexico 93-62 in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center, Saturday afternoon.
The Rams improve to 14-5 and 4-3 in the Lone Star Conference behind four players with double digits, led by
Tyrell Carroll who has 16 points, eight assists, and four rebounds. ENMU falls to 6-11, 2-6 in conference play.
ASU shot 32-of-65 from the field, 49% for the game, including 12 made threes. Eastern was held to just 32% from the field and 19% from beyond the arc on the afternoon.
The Greyhounds started the game quickly, jumping to an 11-7 lead following a 6-0 run early on in the contest.
The Rams regained the lead after a layup from
Paul Williams made it 13-11 at the 11:51 mark, giving ASU the lead for the rest of the contest.
A
Kelyn Pennie three pointer capped off a 19-4 run for the Rams, giving them the halftime advantage, 45-24.
The Rams had 22 assists and 11 steals to go along with 36 points in the paint, and 41 bench points on the dominant afternoon.
ASU blazed out of the gates in the second from with a 12-3 run capped off by a dunk from
Dante Moses, extending their lead to 30, 57-27.
Williams hit a jumper with 11:31 to go, growing the lead to the largest of the game at 36 points, 67-31.
Pennie had 15 points, shooting 5-of-5 from downtown, while Moses added 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
Devaughn Thomas had 11 point and six boards, while
Lathaniel Bastian had seven points and seven boards.
Late baskets by
Chris Boekhorst and
Andre Nunley along with, a pair of threes from
Trevor Berry and
Andi Vrapcani closed out the scoring in the game for the Rams.
