SAN ANGELO - With the early signing period opening last week for prospective collegiate student-athletes to sign their National Letters of Intent (NLI) to play at the next level, Angelo State Men's Basketball Head Coach
Vinay Patel has added a future Ram, Wall's Everson Armstrong, who will join the program next fall.
"We are excited to add Everson to the Ram basketball family," said Patel. "We believe he has a high basketball IQ, can shoot the basketball, and plays with extreme effort and energy."
Armstrong, a two-time District MVP and the reigning offensive MVP, has averaged 13.7 points per game in his high school career while grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game; he averages 2.5 assists per game and 1.5 steals per contest.
"Everson Armstrong has been such an important part of the Wall Basketball Program for the past four years," said Wall Head Coach Travis Dawson. "His achievements on the court speak for themselves. He has a combination of size, skill, and athleticism that other teams have difficulty matching up against. His impact on the program has gone beyond his success."
Last season, Armstrong averaged 17.8 points per game while grabbing 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.6 steals per game.
Armstrong is also a two-time 3A Region 1 All-Region Selection and is a three-time honoree on the All-West Texas Team. He has also been honored as the All-West Texas MVP.
"He makes others around him better each game. His leadership and character, both on and off the court, are evident daily in how he approaches everything from the classroom to practice to games," said Dawson. "He continues to improve daily, and we look forward to seeing his development and play grow even more at ASU."
"He is an excellent addition to our program on and off the court," said Patel. "It was very important to our staff to keep him home and play for the Blue and Gold!"
