SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team continues its four-game homestand this holiday weekend when they welcome Sul Ross State into Stephens Arena at the Junell Center for a Saturday evening contest.
The Rams are 2-1 on the season and are coming off an impressive 99-67 home-opening win against Arlington Baptist, where the Rams forced the Patriots into 34 turnovers.
The Rams average 80 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting from the field and 30.7 percent from three-point range.
Defensively, the Rams hold opponents to 68.7 points per game, and opponents are shooting 41.8 percent against the Rams; the Rams also force opponents into 19.3 turnovers per game.
The Rams lead all Lone Star Conference teams with 11.3 steals per game and rank 14
th nationally. The Rams are also second in the conference in rebounding per game (41.7), offensive rebounds per game (15.0), and rebounding margin (13.0).
Reggie Quezada is the Rams' leading scorer this season, averaging 17.3 points per game while shooting 55.3 percent from the field. The New Yorker also leads the team in assists and is one of three Rams to lead the team with five steals this season.
Senior forward
Fredelin De La Cruz leads the LSC with 11.0 rebounds per contest. His two double-doubles this season are tied for the most in the conference, and his five offensive rebounds per game rank him third nationally.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS
Sul Ross State, a Division III institution, is 0-3 on the season; they are coming off a weekend in Washington where they dropped games by 13 and 15 points.
The Lobos are led in scoring by Julian Paredes' 14 points per game on 44.1 percent shooting from the field.
The Rams are 31-6 all-time against Sul Ross State; these two teams last met on December 19
