Rambelles Set for First Round Matchup with UCCS

SAN ANGELO, Texas – After being named the third seed in the South Central Region, the Angelo State women's soccer team will travel to Golden, Colo. to face sixth seeded UC – Colorado Springs on Friday, Nov. 11th at 2 p.m. on the Colorado School of Mines campus.

  • The Rambelles drew with Midwestern State in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference tournament on Tuesday last week, the Mustangs would advance 3-2 on penalty kicks.
  • Katelin Heise and Cindy Rodriguez netted in the 2-2 draw, both scoring their fourth goals of the season.
  • Reagan Urbany and sophomore Grace Jordan are tied for most goals on the squad with seven, the pair are tied for sixth most in the LSC.
  • Jordan's six game-winning goals still hold the best mark in the LSC.  
  • Valerie Solis has five assists on the season and is now first on the team and fifth in the conference.
  • Kira Miller broke the Angelo State all-time saves record against St. Edward's. She now holds the Belles all-time saves (304), shutouts (38), and wins (56) titles.
  • Miller sits first in the LSC with 10 shutouts this season.
  • Cassidy Hill and Miller have each played all 1,730 minutes of the 2022 season.
  • The Belles have outscored their opponents 31-13 through 19 games, averaging 1.63 goals per contest, only allowing opponents 0.68, the second-best mark in the conference.
  • Miller was named the LSC Academic Player of the Year and the LSC Goalkeeper of the Year last week, she was also recognized with an All-LSC First Team honor.
  • Hill was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Year and also earned a First Team All-LSC nod.
  • Heise was also named to the All-LSC First Team after her impressive season in the midfield.
  • Jordan, Urbany, and Madison Stokes were all named to the All-LSC Second Team following their performances in the regular season.
  • Natasha Soto and Harper Saxon were named to the LSC All-Freshman Team, each bolstering the Belles backline all season.
  • Jordan and Miller earned LSC honors after wins against Eastern New Mexico and St. Mary's in match week five.
  • Hill was recognized as the LSC Defensive Player of the Week in match week four after shutting out both Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Christian.
  • Miller also earned LSC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after a shutout and six saves in match week two against Colorado School of Mines and Regis.
  • Miller and backline staple Cassidy Hill were announced as LSC preseason Goalkeeper and Defender of the year, both for the second consecutive season.
  • Czarnecki and Rodriguez have announced that they will be utilizing their COVID year, utilizing their extra season of eligibility.
  • Czarnecki and Hill were announced as captains for the 2022 campaign.
  • ASU returns 19 of 28 letterwinners from the 2021 season which saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA DII National Tournament.
  • Head Coach Travis McCorkle enters his 15th season at the helm of the Belles program, looking to add more hardware following the team's second consecutive LSC Tournament Championship.
  • Assistant Coach Harold Muñoz enters his sixth season with the Belles, and Avery McNeme enters the coaching ranks as the Belles graduate assistant following five years on the pitch.
 
ANGELO STATE vs. UCCS
  • The Rambelles and Mountain Lions have played only two times in their history, with both sides taking home one win.
  • The Mountain Lions finished second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) after going 9-1-2 in conference play.
  • UCCS lost in the semifinals of the RMAC tournament last week at the hands of Regis, 3-2 in overtime.
  • Prior to that loss, the Mountain Lions were undefeated in 10 straight games with eight wins and two draws.
  • UCCS is outscoring their opponents 53-16 on the season. They score 2.65 goals per match while limiting opponents to .80.
  • Sydney Lasater lead the offense for UCCS, she has 18 points this season, five goals and eight assists.
  • Kaitlin Hinkle and Jadyn LeDoux are the top scorers on the Mountain Lions with six goals apiece, the pair also have four assists each.
  • The Mountain Lions have seven players with at least 10 points in 2022.
  • Alexis Walker has accumulated 1,820 minutes in goal for UCCS, she has 13 wins and 11 shutouts to this point in the season. The keeper has made 56 saves and hold opponents to .79 goals per match.
  • The winner of this matchup will face Colorado School of Mines on Sunday, Nov. 13th at 2 p.m. (CST) at CMS Stermole Soccer Stadium.
