GLEN ROSE, Texas – The Angelo State women's golf team wrapped up round three of the Lone Star Conference Championship early this afternoon, carding a 303 (+15), to see them finish 11th overall in Glen Rose.
The Belles found themselves in a competitive position in a strong field at the conclusion of round one, sitting in tenth, after carding a 296 (+8). Only nine strokes behind fourth-place Texas A&M International (287) and 23 strokes behind the leaders from DBU (273). The second round challenged the Belles more than the first as they shot a 307 (+19). This would see the Belles drop to 11th, now 26 strokes back of fourth place.
The third round posed some of the same challenges for the Belles as the second, keeping them out of medal match contention finishing with a 907 (+43) overall. The Belles finished 32 strokes ahead of 12th place Lubbock Christian (938) and 15 strokes behind 10th place Cameron (892). DBU, West Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Texas A&M International finished as the top four in the tournament.
ROUND 3
Ozlyan Juarez carded the best third round for the blue and gold, shooting an even 72. Patrizia Schaefer shot another 75 (+3) to match her best round at the championship. Skyler Strube improved on her second-round score, shooting a 77 (+5) in round three. Maria Sierra Sanz and Laura Kilmova would round out the Belles, shooting a 79 (+7) and 82 (+10) respectively.
This will serve as the final tournament for the Belles in the 2021-22 golf campaign.
